Dimension Pro fails on Leopard

I am experiencing strange problems while installing Dimension Pro on my Mac. Here is my system:

MacPro Quad
OSX 10.5
Cubase 4.1 (just updated it on Tuesday)
300GB of free space

Whenever I try to run the installation, it stops working after a vew moments (while it is copying some .prog and documentation files) and searches for the "Macintosh HD". After that, a message pops up: "Software has not been properly installed" (or something else, I have the german version). I've tested the hard drive. Everything seems ok. DimensionPro worked fine in Cubase until I installed all DimensionPro Patches and the OSX Leopard Update on Friday. When I tried to reinstall DimPro, I got this error I was describing.

This is urgent. I need to work with this software asap.

Thanks for your help.

Same problem here. Just installed Leopard yesterday...

Dimension Pro seems to be the only softsynth with issues with Leopard. All my other softsynths work fine (Korg Legacy Collection, FM8).

    Pretty disappointing on Cakewalk's part.

well they are known for their very good support ;) - that's why I am hoping that they will find a solution very soon.

It's Leopard, most likely, rather than Cubase.
I use Logic Pro on my Mac, and quickly started reading reports of Dimension Pro failing Logic's AU validation on Leopard.

They'll likely fix it fairly quickly, but it might help to change the thread title to something like:
Dimension Pro fails on OS X Leopard

Just a thought, but that way we could get all the issues together in one thread.
I actually came here today to start a "Dimension Pro fails on OS X Leopard" thread, but figured I'd add my post to yours instead.

Here's hoping its fixed soon, but in the meantime, Tiger will continue to work.
With any new OS, of course, dual-booting for a while is generally in order.

    Take care, and good luck,

I changed it. Cakewalk might be working faster than M-Audio. I just called them today and was told that Leopard-Drivers will be released in 6-8 weeks. Great. ;)

Got a quick fix for you.

-Download this: http://homepage.mac.com/krmathis/applications/p7zip%204.55.dmg and extract the "7za" executable

-Mount your cakewalk cd. The apple+click and drag the volume in order to create a copy of it on your hard disk.

    -Eject your cd

-In the copy you have just made navigate to /Install Data/Dimension Pro Content/Multisamples/ and replace the "7za" executable with the one you had previously extracted from that dmg.

-Then run the Dimension Installer.app, now it should not hang.

    Cheerio,
    Ciram.

Thanks, ciram. I've seen a few installer workarounds for Leopard, so it's good to know we can get past that.

Once installed though, does Dim Pro work on Leopard. I've been reading that it fails AU validation in Logic Pro, even when installed. I don't have Cubase, so I haven't been paying attention to that.

    Are you seeing something different?

    hey there,

thanks for the workaround. I was able to install the plugin successfully. It is recognized in Cubase 4.1. However, there are some small glitches:

    - patch loading panel and all other windows do not come to the front
you cannot reach the dialog-windows to do anything so, from the operating pow the plugin is quite not useful at the moment.
however, I tried to move the windows around a bit and managed to load a patch

    - also, if you are using spaces in leopard, please check if you have closed the plugin editor before switching to another space. it won't dissapear and will stay on it's position. it's kinda weird ;)

    - I played around with the plugin and loaded a few patches. however, after some time of playing, some programs won't reload or, if loaded, the plugin won't make any sound. you will have to restart cubase if you want to continue.

    *update*

    - I just encountered an error in cubase: "the vst-bridge connection has been interrupted..", I just loaded another patch and the plugin was gone.

seems like a lot of work for the cakewalk guys. good luck! ...and hurry! ;)

    Fascinating.
    What's a vst-bridge, I wonder?

    Do you happen to know?

I'm assuming that Cubase is using the VST version of Dim Pro, whereas Logic Pro is using the AU version.

    what's a vst-bridge?

Cubase uses VST3 since Version (SX)4 was released, causing many problems for VST2-Plugin-Users. Version 4.1 has a kind of compatibility-mode, allowing VST2-Plugins to work again.

I have verified Dimension Pro issues in Leopard. There are several issues, including installation, validation for AU in certain systems and a few other minor.

Unfortunately, Leopard is a huge step away (ahead) from Tiger, so we don't have a quick workaround to offer. Several API's we're using show different functionality now. Additionally, we're not alone in this as there's many folks in the industry with issues. We've flagged the task as high priority, hopefully we'll be able to bring a solution soon.

    Hello Rene'

I'm having an AU validation problem with Dimension 1.2 and Logic Pro 8. I am running Tiger 10.4.10 and the issue is still there. I don't expect to upgrade to Leopard for a while. Is there some work around for the AU portion of Dimension when using Tiger? I'm not having a problem with Rapture.

    I'm running a Mac Mini Core 2 Duo 2GHz w/2GB RAM.

    Thanks,
    Cary

    Hello,

I'm not sure if there's any change in the status, but I wouldn't think so. Apple has announced the first Leopard patch, so most likely it'll be deferred till the patch is out.

In any case, you'll surely see an announcement here in the forums.

I second the bump. I'd really like to be able to use Dimension again. All my other plugins have now been updated and are working. Dimension is now the only plugin still causing issues.

Hey guys, at least Rene says they're working on it. I haven't been able to use Akoustik Piano for over a year because it won't run properly in Vista, and that OS has been out over a year! N.I. is sooooooooo slooooooooooow to update their plugs. Cakewalk is lightyears ahead. Sorry to go OT, but I thought my AP issue was similar/ interesting when compared to the DP and Leopard issue.

    No problem, man...
Indeed. It's nice to know when Cakewalk says they're working on it, they usually actually ARE.

Sorry to hear about Acoustic Piano. NI is an odd company.

In a strange case of... I don't know... something:
All my NI plugs but one has been ported to work with Leopard (Absynth 4, Massive, and FM8). The one left (that I've tried) is Pro-53, which doesn't have an update yet (but that I don't know had any issues... I almost never use it).

I've yet to install or check for a Battery 3 update for Leopard yet. I'm out of activations, and don't want to go through the trouble right now.

    So, a note to Cakewalk:
Don't let NI, of all companies, beat you to Leopard coverage!!!

    Take care,
I hope NI gets your plugin working, WITHOUT an upgrade cost!

Yes, agreed. Cakewalk does a better job than just about anyone else with actually interacting with their user's in the forums. So thanks Rene for joining into the conversation - I just wanted to add my voice to those looking for an update.

me to, pal, me too ;)

    so, what's the status?

I am also still waiting for m-audio for delivering leopard-drivers for my 4x4 midisport. they told me to have them finished within 6-8 weeks (that was 9 weeks ago).

I guess I will downgrade again to my old 500MHz Win XP setup. At least, it worked for me ;)

Forget about waiting for M-Audio - ever since Avid bought them out, they've sucked for support. Try this link for your 4x4, I had the same prob with my 8x8s and this fixed it...

yup. sorry for the confusion. I think I used the direct-reply function to avoid any misunderstandings here ;)

anyways. last weekend another musical thought got buried because of a delayed DimPro update ^^

no, everything is fine. I used crappy HalionOne as a temporary solution ;) but that thing hurts in my ears, so...hurry guys!
