Do You Get Cakewalk Emails for Products You Already Own???

I have had X3 Producer for a long time now, but I get all of the emails offering the 40-50-60% off deals for...X3. Inbox noise.

It would seem to me that Cakewalk's database would discern between who has what so that the emails are properly targeted (meaning I'll get the X4 emails or emails for other Cakewalk products I don't already own.)

Is everyone else getting the same type of emails or is there just something funky with my account in the Cakabase?

Yes. I have been getting FINAL CHANCE, LAST DAY, EXTENDED emails constantly for X3 for the last 6 months. I have owned it since first release. I would make sense to filter by products in our CW Account.

Same here.  Kind of an annoyance.  Would be nice to get offers for something I don't already have for a change.

They call 'em fingers, but I've never seen 'em fing.

I don't receive emails. They claim that if you mark one as spam, it will stop further emails. I don't use the send to spam function in my yahoo account very much. And I check my spam folder before it gets too large. I never recall cakewalk email being in there. I have had them reset this before, and started to receive again, so would have been aware of making this error. My emails stopped again.

They say user error, I say their system is faulty. Can't be arsed to monitor if I am receiving their emails on a regular basis to telll them that their system has ****ed up again.

You might try checking your account information in the new single-sign on system. Mine only shows purchases for 8.5 and X1. Even though I've purchased every version since Sonar 4 (through X3).

I reported this a week ago. What makes this seem odder: the old system displayed all my CakeWalk purchases.

I changed to a second account to try to get emails after my prime account dried up and received a couple of them and then they stopped.
It bothers me as there could be a good deal on offer and it'll just pass me by.
It can't be that hard to send emails - I get shed loads from Amazon!

Seems I stopped receiving emails, after they fixed it in this thread 15th May

Staying on this forum keeps you more aware of things than their emails do.

I'm sure cakewalk we be heading towards automated product targetted emails rather than blanket broadcasts (I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to do this), the new store would make this easier to happen. Too early I suspect right now to expect this to happen after the store changes, it will be a slow and iterative process.

    Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback. There are a lot of topics in here and I'll try to address some of them to hopefully shed (some light) on why certain things behave the way they do.

    Targeted Emails
We actually can and do send targeted emails. I'm not saying that we always only send targeted emails just that we have been for years, if you are getting email offers for products you already own it can likely happen because:

    a) You signed up at one point or another for our newsletter using a different email address than the one associated with your store account or registrations
    b) You registered a product at one point or another with a different email address
    c) You had multiple store accounts in one region or store accounts in multiple regions with our old store
    d) It actually wasn't a targeted email, often times we will include multiple offers/promos in these types of emails even if the 'main' message is for a product you already own.

    Not receiving emails
It's no secret that spam and being blacklisted are big issues when sending out marketing emails. We use a pretty well-respected service (http://bronto.com/) to handle delivery for us. If your email provider reports that a message was unwanted or junked your address will immediately be removed. This is to protect our sender rating, if for example 10 @yahoo addresses say 'hey this user thinks this is spam' and we continue to email, our rating drops and yahoo will blacklist all emails from us.

I'm not going to pretend that it is not a major pain to keep email records up to date, case in point take a look at some of the various discussions around the new store roll-out and I totally recognize that if you can't get our emails that is our problem not yours. However, if you do want to stay 'in the know' about what our current offers are you can almost always find them in the 'specials' category on our store: https://shop.cakewalk.com/1244/catalog/category.60211/ there are all sorts of great tools out there that you can setup to monitor that page and check for updates, personally I do that with a number of retailers that I purchase from

I used to receive emails and then all of a sudden they stopped
If you never open our emails - then the frequency at which you receive them will decline. We track engagement very very closely. We would much rather send you one email a month that you open then 1 a week that you ignore. If we are doing targeted emails and its for a product that you do not own and we know you only open our emails once a month, then you might not get an email that month. It's actually pretty rare, but it does happen.

These are a bunch of excuses you guys still suck
Fair enough - and we know. I only offer the above as some insight into why you may be experiencing one of these things. Once we iron out all of the migration issues and new store rollout we will be addressing email newsletter opt-in/opt-out. Look on the bright side here, we don't make parachutes if you ever feel like you got screwed because you missed an offer if you rang/emailed us within a reasonable time period from the offers expiration we would hook you up.
