Do you mix in track or console view?
Just curious. I've been using track view for mixing ever since I got Sonar. I don't know why. I guess I just didn't think about console view, and now I'm so used to it that I don't know if I could easily adjust to console view. I guess I would if it made any difference in sound.

Console view is great. If you have lots of tracks console view can make it easy to make adjustments to both the track strip and any plug ins. But beware, console view can add to the CPU strain.

Track View because I like to see into the future when I'm mixing. But I gotta admit, once the mix is done I switch over to Console View, lean back & watch the pretty lights. The only problem is how do you fit more than (16 or so) tracks on the screen at once? I've never been able to figure out how to shrink the tracks to fit on screen.

track view. I'll track (pun intended) down problems in the console view, esp. buses, but mainly use the track view. @

Console view is great for showing off how cool your DAW looks with dual monitors. I bring it up if I want to impress someone who knows nothing about DAWs. But for mixing? Nah.

I use both..... but mostly track view. I can see my envelopes and I can also see what's coming. Most volume and panning adjustments are done here. Console view is good for seeing the entire project at once.... to watch the meters to be sure nothing clips. It's also easier to see that everything is going where it's supposed to go....tracks to busses, and then to master. I hide the midi source tracks and use narrow view if I have a large number of tracks. ( not very common)

Gee...I must be the oddball here. Once I get my tracks set up I generally work in the console. I just find it easier to see all the levels as a verfication against what I'm hearing. The only thing I'll typically do in track view as far as mixing is automation as it's a lot more efficient there than in console view...more tedious, but a WHOLE lot more efficient and precise. DD

Same as Bob, set up in the track view, group instruments so they display in the console better, mix to busses in the console, then concentrate on the busses in the console. Go back to track view when detail work is needed, rinse, repeat. Later Albert

Console for mixing, track for editing. Easier for me to see in console. I guess it's a verticle, horizontal thing.

I view buses on console view and tracks on track view, each on separate screens. If I am using bus envelopes, I view buses on track view.

I track in track view, do all editing etc, then, I mix in console view. I guess it is because I'm used to mixing on a real console. Some things are just hard to let go of. This is the first time I've heard that the Console View uses more CPU. I'll have to do a little comparison to see the difference. What makes the Console View so CPU intensive?

As for me I only use the console for quick, rough mix settings just for setting up monitoring. I also use it to add effects using the bins. But when I get ready to do the final mix I switch to the track view. Using the console to do automation makes a mess of the envelopes and I like to keep mine clean and only make the number of nodes needed to get the job done. This makes later adjustments easier. However, I do have dual monitors so I keep both views open all the time so I can see everything.

I guess my quick answer is both. I use Sonic Core Scope so I generally mix through a Sonic Core mixer (the 4896 version for those who know about such things) on monitor 2. If I didn't have Scope I'd have the Sonar mixer up and running constantly on monitor 2 just because it makes sense to do so. But generally speaking, I do most of my work in the track pane. It just makes more sense for me to do it there. I'm not moving my eyes back and forth so much I guess. I find it a tad distracting to dart my eyes from monitor to monitor. I prefer to do what I can on monitor one and since it seems you can do almost everything right there in the track pane anyway, why not. Sonar facilitates working like that quite well. Samplitude is a different matter. In Sam world, you need to be able to bounce back and forth since some important features are only available in the mixer window.
