To stop bananas going black so quickly put a Bluapple in the fruit bowl. You can buy them on Amazon along with refills. They absorb the ethylene gas which fruit gives off and stops it from ripening too quickly. They work great in the salad crisper in the fridge too. I got a set a couple of months ago and it's amazing how much longer they make your produce last. It's really easy to remember when to refill them too. Just go on their website, put in your email address and they will email you when it's time.

We're the best ... you know it! The Continental food vendor we had at the King's Table, had a separate refrigerator for all the bananas, and they had special filters and air going into that room, and the bananas stayed green fairly well, so I was aware of this process. The problem is, how many will you display and SELL, so you don't go broke throwing bananas at you like some characters in World of Warcraft!

Hi, I think I found one here in Vancouver, on 164th area by Mill Plain. Not much different than the other store from around here that is all this and that and cool and hip and such ... called Chuck's. Because I can't see the details well enough, and learn better what the big deal is, and why there are 174 different soups or what not, some of these stores are a drag for me ... you want water, and you see an isle that is longer than the threads at the Coffee House! And for me, that is tough. It's obvious it's there for a reason, but 17 different waters, other than flavors is like ... hmmm ... who takes that? Insomniac? Someone that has this or that? The prepared small salads at TJ's are ... my lunches or dinners two or three times a week! Their no fat English Muffins are my other bad habit ... but I seem to do really well with those not bloating me up!

A couple of months ago the girlfriend and I decided to buy some expensive "raw cashew milk" from Whole Foods. It said on the back that it wasn't suitable for pregnant women or anyone with an impaired immune system. Well neither of us are pregnant and we're both quite healthy, so we thought we'd give it a go. Thus followed 3 or 4 days of horrible sickness. It wasn't even very tasty.

You're welcome. I'm really enjoying mine. Fruit has a much longer window of perfect ripeness since I got them. Before, a pear in the bowl would be nice and ripe one day and then the next you give it a cautious squeeze and your finger goes right through. Now, they're at that good-to-eat phase for a good 2 or 3 days longer. Another thing I discovered from reading the blurb that comes with these Bluapples - don't keep your fruit anywhere near where there's combustion going on, i.e. the stove. The gases created by the combustion will make them rot much quicker.

I was recommended Almond milk. That worked out pretty well and it doesn't expire as quickly regular milk.

I had spotted Bluapples on Amazon and figured we'd buy them next time we place an order but I saw them at Whole Foods today, so we grabbed them. I'm usually quite good at planning ahead as to not lose fruits and veggies - and the Vitamix can help with that too. But bananas are the one thing I'm always having issues with. If we buy enough for the week, it's almost certain that we'll lose a few. I often think back of the days before organic food, when everything was sprayed and engineered to last forever - when you see how some of those veggies and fruits have a relatively short shelf life, you realize how much junk they must have had to add to them to make them last so long... That can't be too good for you.

sharke Well it's been explained (sort of). What I wasn't taking into account is that any card purchases made at the weekend won't get posted on my statement until Monday. So If I shop at Whole Foods on Monday as well, it'll appear that multiple charges have been made on that day. Going back through my statements from the first instance of this I could find (from the earliest statement I can access online), it appears that the vast majority of these multiple charges have been made on Mondays. And also discounting multiple charges on Tuesdays on weeks in which the Monday was a Federal holiday, I can only find 4 other instances of double charges, and these occurred on Tues, Wed and Fri. They all happened over a year ago and I'm not sure I have the inclination to investigate whether or not I made two trips to Whole Foods on those days. It's unlikely because my schedule only allows for one shopping trip a day, but I'm not confident about it enough to risk sitting in a Whole Foods security office seeing camera footage of myself making two trips (provided they even have footage going back that far). Don't know why the weekend thing didn't occur to me - I guess I never really pay that much attention to dates when I skim over my checking account. It's funny but I go over my business account with a fine tooth comb every week, but my checking account not so much. I've even stopped paying attention to things like utility bills, phone, internet etc. This is what happens when bills come out of your account automatically, you get complacent....
Dude, do you keep your receipts? Do they match your credit card charges? Have you asked your credit card company? There should be no double charges on your account due to anything.

Yeah I drink tons of the regular Whole Foods brand unsweetened almond milk. It's the best one by far! It's organic and best of all doesn't have carrageenan in it like most of the other almond milk brands. Here's a tip - mix it with coconut water, about 50/50. I discovered this by accident a couple of weeks ago and it's turned into one of my favorite drinks.

Yeah I remember years ago eating half of an apple and leaving it on a plate, then when I came back a few hours later it hadn't even begun to turn brown. That kind of worried me.

No I don't keep grocery receipts, I'm terrible with stuff like that. Anything else like clothing, gadgets, software or any other products, I keep them religiously. And I keep all business receipts and go over my business account with a fine tooth comb on a regular basis. But the day to day domestic stuff I've always been lax about.

I did not know the name of that store ... haven't been there since they closed the bookstore that used to be next to it, and that's at least a year ago. Sometimes I wish I didn't see double ... it's one of the things that bugs me at work, and even here ... because of the double vision, a lot of times I can not see things, and reading those signs is one of the prime examples ... too fuzzy, and sometimes it just doesn't register in the noodles! I've eaten there for lunch, and it wasn't bad, though I'm not sure that some of those warm entrees are dead or alive! Vegetarian lasagna looked good ... but I didn't want the stomach ache just from its looks! I don't always, recognize/learn things by lables ... and just like this store, I knew had good lunches, but I can't say I ever registered its name in my head ... it should tell you how hard it is for me to see things sometimes, and how hard I have to work to get things "seen" and "noticed".

They did not have enough Victorian Pornography for my tastes. Too much Penthouse pornography! That means the computer section stunk a bit, but the magazine section had a lot of musicnography to keep me entertained. Sadly, some of those Computer Music magazines are worse than Cliff Notes and not very good helpers for a beginner at all! I still can't get past their beginner issue on the stuff! Having to figure it all out on my own ... I've been told it's best anyway!
