Drum Map question.

Hello,
Its been a while since I posted anything on this forum, but Im pretty stumped with this.

I just bought a new drum vi called Galaxy Drums and installed it.  It has several drum maps built in to it, including General Midi.  I was wondering why not matter which drum map I choose the drum names dont show up in either prv or the step sequencer?
I really would like to avoid having to make one from scratch, but if I have to then how would I do that?

Thanks in advance!

For instrument names to appear in the PRV note pane or step sequencer automatically, the VST plug-in manufacturer must implement the appropriate code in the plug-in. Cakewalk does this in Session Drummer. FXpansion does it in BFD. Most manufacturers do not. For those plug-ins that do not have the feature either use a step sequencer template, drum map (which uses the drum grid instead of the note pane in the PRV), manually set note names in the PRV using the note names dialog (which may be extended with ins entries).

This should help you out. The PDF link is still live.

I know it's been said a million times, but the Drum Map Manager is sorely in need of updating. A spreadsheet-style app would be so much easier to use, but I imagine Cakewalk could come up with something evern better.

By far the best Drum Map tutorial I've seen on our forums.
I've used this method that FreeX posted for almost 5 years now and to be honest, its not as pain staking as one might think. A drum map can be created and implemented within 10 minutes, even if you aren't familiar with it.

    I agree.
Though the drum map manager we have now does the job, I would love to see a real time editing GUI with at minimum color and font changes.
When using default templates in Piano Roll View the lettering is large and easy to read. but the second you create and/or use a custom drum map, the letting fonts shrink to smaller sizes.

Drum maps are an issue in this thread because the plug-in manufacturer failed to add the appropriate data to the plug-in. Had the manufacturer added the feature, instrument names would appear automatically like they do when using Session Drummer and BFD.
