yeah, I've already got some of their stuff.  I have the 7CG Jr but I'm not all that impressed with it.  I also have the Old Lady.

they're great for the price (on sale that Per does occassionally) but they're not as good as GPII, IMO, and I want something at least as good as GPII.

Understood - I like the Old Lady very much, but I've not liked the C7 equivalent library at all. The Emperor is nice.

What is GPII? Sorry if I missed it.

can't you just DI your Privia, Reece? that's what i do...admittedly if you need an upfront rock piano it might not be the best tone for that...

actually I sold the Privia and bought a Motif XS.  and the privia was not the sound I was looking for, nor is the XS at this point.  there's no pedal sounds, etc.  I do DI the XS for some things, but I'm pretty picky about my piano sounds.

Audiomidi is doing it at that price too.  And it's downloadable.  I got the ezx electronic.  Don't much like it actually,  but I'll find a use for it i'm sure.

Shoot. Metal Foundry SDX didn't go on sale.  Any idea if it's expected to as the first poster had anticipated?

Sorry guys. Figured out what I was doing wrong. I'm the happy owner of Metal Foundry now. :)

Hey Dave, I went to GC today to get the Metal Foundry SDX. They were out of the boxed ones, offered me a serial number instead. I declined and they offered to give me the same deal when they had the boxed versions back in stock.

I noticed at Florida Music Company they had the download version for the 75.00 price but the boxed set at 139.00.

From your earlier post: "The only downloads available are teaser sets that will give you something to toy with till the DVD arrives", I take you to mean you will still get the same version, and not some lite version. Am I on the right track?

Even though it's a tedious download, I would just as soon do that as pay the extra taxes from Guitar Center.

P.S. Thanks for the great Toontrack tips at gatortracks.com

I guess I should have read a little further on the site under that part that said: "Important! Please Note:  If you choose the download option, we can only accept Paypal payments from a confirmed and verified Paypal account.  EZ Drummer and the EZX expansion packs can be downloaded in their entirety from Toontrack's website.  The Superior Drummer 2.0 and SDX expansion packs can be partially downloaded from Toontrack, but a separate Installer Disc is necessary for the complete installation.  If you already have an Installer Disc, choose the 'Download no disc' option.  If you do not have an Installer Disc, choose the 'Download with disc' option.  Shipping charges may apply for the 'Download with disc' option."

Any retailer that claims that a SDX library is a download is misinforming the customer.  There have been many posts from angry customers who were told that they could download the whole library or download the teaser set while Toontrack ships the disks.  It is my understanding from the replies to these posts that the retailers are the ones who must ship the disks unless you are one who has bought one of the Superior Drummer 2 boxes that actually contain all the libraries and just require the activation codes and serial numbers.

Before you buy a download deal, go to Toontrack.com and register in the forum and check out the posts regarding this.  Better yet, post a question and get confirmation that I am understanding it correctly.  (I'm pretty sure that I am.)

I just got back from my local GC where I bought the Jazz EZX. What I came home with is a box that contains a bunch of product install disks. My serial number was printed on my receipt. I installed the software (didn't appear to be given an option of where I wanted to install it) and then did the online registration thing and all is well.

To unlock the rest of the products, all you have to do is contact GC (or another participating retailer, I assume) or go online to Toontrack and buy another serial number (appropriate to your product, of course).

Seems risky in this age of keygens and such, but I guess the approach works for Toontrack. I'm just glad I was able to pick up what I wanted for $40.

Looks like your GC has understood how the marketing program works.  If they gave you the multiple product sets then all you need is the serial numbers which you should be able to buy from any dealer now.

yep - that's the Black Box, right?  I've got one of those.  the FIRST time I went to GC all they gave me was the receipt with the serial number and told me to download it.  I had to go back to GC and get the manager involved because the sales drone still insisted they didn't have any "black boxes" to give me.

@Jimbo21 I just caught this thread. I hope I caught you in time.

MusiciansFriend.com (owned by the same parent company as Guitar Center and Music123) has the SDx for $79.99 and the EZx for $39.99 plus there is an extra discount going on this weekend.

I just purchased Custom & Vintage from MusiciansFriend.com for $79.99 (okay, technically, they are out of stock and promised to ship it by next week) plus the Latin Percussion EZx for $39.99 plus, I got an additional 5% off using the code "STARS." So, while GC has C&V a for $5 cheaper, considering the discount code giving me an extra 5% off, no sales tax and free shipping saving me gas and the hassle of getting over to GC on a busy weekend, I think I got a pretty nice deal! Hopefully this info will help someone else do similarly.

Here's a link to the ToonTrack products at MusiciansFriend.com: http://www.musiciansfrien...navigation?q=toontrack

Is this also true for BeatStation? Will I get a box with the(multiple?) install discs and the "activation code" on my receipt? Or will they just hand me my receipt (with activation code printed on it) and then I D/L the installer and the 1.5 GB of content from ToonTracks?
The reason I ask is because Fla. Music Co. also has a D/L option instead of a boxed set. And the reason I don't want to buy online is because I want to pay in cash. Thanks.

UPDATE: fwiw- BeatStation can be delivered solely as a digital download(1.5GB) or you can get it in a box, if they exist. I went to GC and after a little jostling I finally settled on someone who was familiar with the Black Box Initiative.  He had to go "upstairs" to retrieve them. I bought the authorization for the Electronic Kit based on the rave reviews it's received in this thread. That one is a download only, i.e.- it wasn't included in the mysterious Black Box. But to confuse matters further the Jazz EZX was included in the box. Hopefully the Electronic Kit D/L is indeed the full content and not just a "teaser" as has been described by Dave for some of the other libraries. It's still confusing as heck.
I will write a proper review of BeatStation once I've put it through it's paces... so far I'm not terribly thrilled to the gills.
Oh and btw- the $39 offer is through the entire month of July, not just this past 4th of July weekend.

Well, I have bought EZ Drummer expansion packs before and one time I got the Black box Reece is talking about with the installers for SD 2, Metal Foundry and (at that time) the drivers for the EZ expansions kits.....so all i needed to do was buy a serial number and do the istall..

However I did go to GC and they did not have the drivers for Electronic and DFH.....so I went home and did the DL from the toontrack site.....I did the install and registered and it worked just fine.....

Now with SD 2 since that is such a large package I cannot say that this would work....I would be more inclined to believe what Dave has to say about this....He knows a lot more about it than I do...

As far as these being on sale all month.....All I can do is repeate what my flyer said......if it iis on sale all month.....excellent........(but I have to say that I did not see that..my flyer only said for the 4th weekend so that is all I have to go on)

Bats:  If I do see the upgrade on sale to SD 2 I will let you know)

You did! I went over on the Fourth and picked up Jazz EZX and Electronic EZX for real cheap. The only problem is that I intended to run them thru BeatStation but that is very much a work in progress. Any good deals on EZDrummer?

Notice that I said that the SDX libraries were not fully downloadable.  The EZX libraries are much smaller and can be downloaded without too much time.

At present I do not know of any..but hey...Labor day is not far off and that may be your next best bet ......sometimes the dog days of summer (Aug.) will bring out the best in sales......but if not there is always Christmas!!!!!!!  It ain't that far off and besides it gives you time to save and get some new toys!!

But If I run across any deals on EZ I will be sure to post!

thanks clifford!

Your welcome sir....I did the upgrade from EZ Drummer to Superior and it was totally worth it.....still have a lot to learn there......but it sounds just so darn good! so I do not blame you for wanting to upgrade....However that being said you make your drum samples sound very good anyway so I'm thinking that an upgrade to SD 2 in your hands will be just killer!!!!!!!

If I see it I will let you know.....If I remember correctly last year at Christmas they were selling the upgrades for like around $125 or so......almost a no brainer!   Unforunatly I missed it by four weeks and paid full price!!!!!  AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!  had to have a few beers over that one!

Hopefully the Electronic Kit D/L is indeed the full content and not just a "teaser" as has been described by Dave for some of the other libraries. It's still confusing as heck.
Notice that I said that the SDX libraries were not fully downloadable.  The EZX libraries are much smaller and can be downloaded without too much time.

As Always Dave, you are correct and Your advice and insight has and is always a valuable resource for us.....I would never try to download an SDX Library......the EZX are easier....in fact I can even down load them at work if I wanted to...

Dave Modsetti would be the right person to ask about this. He really is an expert at the Toontrack line...so we will see if he agrees with my answer here and can shed more light here than I can....

However That being said.....I am going to take a stab at it an say there may be some duplication between the two packs / lines but I am sure that you will get more Midi grooves with the SDX that the EZX.

The sound is going to be more tweakable in the SDX than the EZX. But i think they both have their place....( I have both packs for both lines).....If your looking to set up a quick and simple groove then grab the EZX however if you have a lot of time on your hands or really want it to sound great grab the SDX.....I think this is going to be your biggest plus here.

For the most part....... most all of the EZX grooves will play (are mapped) to play in the SDX....You may have to tweak a little but not by much..(the EZX Latin Per. comes to mind here)  ..so they are substitutable from the EZX to the SDX...just think of it as expanding your library. ( I do this all the time...Play my EZX grooves in the SDX packs...)

That being said.......I am glad I have both C&V and Metal foundry from the SDX and the DFH and the Vintage Rock from the EZX line.....

I hope this helps...
