EZDrummer and X1 (solved)
Has anyone gotten EZD to work with X1a? I am using the 64-bit version of EZD in the 64-bit version of X1a. I can load it, see it and it appears to be working, but I get no sound. I went to the Toontracks web site and they don't have anything about Sonar X1 in the support portal. Thanks for any help I can get. Tom

have you downloaded and installed the latest update for EZD? it's necessary for EZD to work in 64bit.

Beagle have you downloaded and installed the latest update for EZD? it's necessary for EZD to work in 64bit. Yes, and it resides in c:/programs/cakewalk/vstplugins/toontrack/64bit/ezd. I did the standard EZD installation and everything went fine. Tom

sorry to ask Tom, but just to be thorough - after installing the 64bit EZD update - did you run the VST scanner?

Beagle sorry to ask Tom, but just to be thorough - after installing the 64bit EZD update - did you run the VST scanner? Just to let you know, X1 finds EZD and loads it into the synth rack. In one of my projects, the track shows sound levels, but nothing comes out of the monitors. When I load EZD new, I get no sound. Also, in the EZD kit display, it doesn't seem to load the sound, the field stays at 0mb. I hope this makes sense. t

Two things to check first. Open the EZD GUI. Look at the bottom right corner of the EZdrummer GUI and tell me if it says 64 bit. Or look at the top corner of the Window and see if the FX icon is there or the Bitbridge icon. If EZdrummer doesn't say 64 bit then X1 is loading the 32 bit version. If X1 loads the 32 bit version you will see the Bitbridge icon. Bitbridge cannot bridge EZdrummer 32 bit and we will have to figure out why it is loading instead of the 64 bit version.

In the upper left hand corner, there appears to be a blue plugin icon, but I must admit I don't know what that icon looks like. Does this help in figuring this out? t

Yeah I had the same issue as mentioned, I purchased jbridge, go to their web sight the demo will confirm that your EZ drummer works, price wise about $20 an a tad, when converted from Euro currency.

With the updated 64bit EX/Superior I think the default install location is as follows: c:\program files\vstplugins\toontrack\64bit\EZplayer.dll You will need to add the c:\ program files\vstplugins\toontrack\64bit\to your scan path. It may appear in the Plug in manager under 64bit as a sub category. As much as I like jBridge it is no longer needed to use EZ/Superior in a Sonar 64bit when you have accessed the proper .dll. Please note that it is a separate Vst location than most Cakewalk default installations.

Just to be clear when updating EZ drummer to 64 bit there is two steps Run the 32 bit update THEN run the 64 bit update. If you just run the 64 bit update first you get no sound (the read me actually tells you to do this, but how many of us read that thing). So, if this is what happened, then you need to unistall reinstall run 32 bit updater run 64 bit updater then have fun,

I see that lorneyb2 and Mathew have given good instructions. I can go on to what I was doing if no one else needs help. Just for search purposes, if you are running SONAR X1 x64 and do not see Version 1.2.1 (64 Bit) (or the latest version) in the bottom right corner, then you are running the 32 bit version.

Well, I just reinstalled EZD. The latest 32-bit version installed in c:\programs x86\Toontrack\ezdrummer. It included all of the different kits, plus the visuals and the sounds in a sub folders. There is an ezdrummer.dll in c:\programs x86\Cakewalk\VstPlugins\ The 64 bit dll is in c:\program files\vstplugins\toontrack\64bit\ The two dll's are same date, different time, different size. I set Sonar to scan these folders, I watched it scan in the different kits. And like before, the kits work and show up inside a project. But now sound and they don't load into the kit. This is getting frustrating. t

In the Soft Synth Options Uncheck Simple Instrument Track Check Midi Source Check First Synth Audio Output Under OPEN THESE WINDOWS Check Synth Property Page In the bottom right corner you see Version 1.2.1 (64 bit)? If you don't then you are running the 32 bit version. If you are running X1 x64, temporarily uninstall the 32 bit app and see what happens.
