Composition and playing A1. Mix ....all good levels wise, but the piano sounds kind of muffled in comparison to the guitar to me - could do with a tweak or two on your piano sound to make them sound more like they were played in the same room. Might sound a bit picky of me, but take it as a compliment - it's almost perfect.

Excellent job. I like the majestic, somber mood. Again, I love acoustic guitar and piano.

Agree with brighten the piano just a bit to match up with the guitar. Use some eq to pull the high end. I would bring up the guitar a bit more. Also the piano and the guitar are quite wide in the mix. I would narrow both of them a bit and put them slighly left or right, opposite of each other. That way they have their own space. Very nice piece and well performed by both of you. Sad and bittersweet.

bootiful guys. agree that the guit and piano freqs aren't gelling as one. I think the guitar is too bright. Piano seems about right to me. Very pretty though and very well executed.

Thanks Tim. I just put up a new mix, although I brightened the piano instead of lowering the eq of the guitar. I guess I should have remembered your comments before I did that! lol Anyway, we'll get it right soon hopefully.

Very beautiful Janet! Great hearing you again. I really felt like you were painting a picture with this song. Very delicate and melodious. You created some interesting mood textures. My only negative would be the muddiness of the piano. There also seemed to be some mild distortion resulting from it. All in all, a great job!

Thank you, Vicente! Thanks Scott. I just put up a new mix and tried to take some brightness off the guitar. Glad you liked it! Thank you, Freddy! :) Thank you, Steve. I appreciate that. I just re-eq'd the piano and perhaps I went to far with the 1k bump. Not sure about the distortion, but I'll check it out. Thanks so much!

Janet, Wow! Emotion pours out of this song. Great musicianship all around. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the take on the piano as well. Very well played, but the mud is its weakness. I can't wait to hear this with that one thing addressed as it is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing, Tom

Thank you, Mark. That has crossed my mind. We'll see if we can keep coming up with new ones. I suppose we'll have to make 2 copies at least cause his parents really loved the first one we did. :) Thank you, Rik. :) Thank you, Tom. Well, I'll get back to this one soon. I ended up eq'ing it like I always do (bump at 1k for warmth.) Not sure what the issue is this time. Really glad you like it though. :)

Thank you, Mikael, and you're welcome. :) Rik, as long as I keep the piano muddy, maybe they'll balance each other out. :) Anyway, here's a new mix and I think I fixed the piano. I used channel tools to widen it, even though I've never liked what it did to the sound. Sounds like I'm not the only one. Note to self: don't do that again. Well, now it won't upload to SC, so I'll try again tomorrow... I hope it's better. :)

The guitar isn't as bright now. The Muddiness: I think it is being caused by the cello. I think it's right on top of the low notes of the piano, creating mud . There seems to be a space competition and/or frequency clash there. Perhaps some EQ and/or stereo separation via panning is needed.

I really like where this is, mix wise. The piano is muted slightly on the highs, sorta playing accompaniment to the lead guitar. Works well and it is both lyrical and evocative.
