Well one thing to consider is I have an i7 2600k with Turbo Boost and 16GB DDR3 so if I'm not mistaken that will help as well. YMMV.

@musicroom... ah but you may be able to get around that via the MIDI input on the box. Not exactly sure if or how that would work though.

Actually I guess that wouldn't work because the device would need to make at least the first trip into the system. Maybe Matt can come back and shed more light on that topic.

Guitars not so much since I use a j-station or a preamp for most of the guitar work Wow... someone else actually has a J-Station.

Actually I guess that wouldn't work because the device would need to make at least the first trip into the system. Exactly. The no-latency version of this would be to use an external keyboard's sound for monitoring purposes. I have done that on ocassion, but I prefer not to because velocity response & modulation results can vary a lot from synth to synth.

Yeah, my mistake. I am completely new to MIDI so I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the little nuances. Stupid computers think they're smarter than me. Harumph!

I love the J-Station Me too. Always preferred it over the POD series, at least earlier versions. It somehow felt more "organic".
