Listened to both. First mix was better, but both need work. There is a lack of bottom and not a lot of fat in the middle, too much processing.

Performances were outstanding, guitars are wickedly awesome, and the Big G's singing is the biggest surprise here...while I always thought highly of his voice, I had no idea he was this good.

Hi guys! The second mix is better but I do agree with Mr. Yoyo on the bass and mids.

Finally getting around to re-posting the re-mixed, "Any Way You Want It," with some time off for the holiday.  This version is based on the comments about the previous version being over-processed, no bottom end, etc....  I took out  all the extras that I thought were making it sound bigger and went back to the basics.    I think this version has better bottom end and more warmth than the previous version.  Look forward to opinions.  Thx.

Beagle,

Thanks for the listen, glad you liked it.

Lynn,

Thanks, Geno really deserves the credit for making this cover possible with his vocal parts.  "The Voice" is a hard act to follow..

Tap,

Thanks for the comment.   Geno did the solo's too.   Did you like the drums, bass and organ?;)   The solo's are really good, I like the modern tone that Geno uses, as it adds a more contemporary dimension.

Thanks again for the comments and suggestions.....  I think the mix is much better now than the original post from a few weeks back.

Great performance. Guitars are spot on. Vocals are great too. Reminds me a little of Tommy Shaw.
Drums could use a little more clarity but if your going for a more classic rock feel they should be fine.

Soundtweaker - Thanks for the comment.  Was going for a 70's classic sound but maybe the overheads/hats could be a little brighter.

Frank - Thanks for the listen.   Yep, Geno is super-talented.

James - Thanks, your last comment on the previous mix about being over-processed prompted me to re-do it.  You were right.

Thatsastrat - Thanks, that it a nice compliement considering all the talent here in this forum.

Tim - Thanks, appreciate that.

Hi Mark and Geno,

This is was much better in my opinion. A few little things but nothing major.

The first thing that leaps out at me that just sounds out of place is the crash cymbals. They just leap out at me as being way far panned and disconnected/separated from the actual drum kit.

The next thing is the ride cymbal seems a little low and a little too dark for me. Like it just doesn't have enough "ping/ting" to it.

The only other thing is the toms sound a bit dark and a bit less percussive than they should be in my opinion. Like, they have no punch to them and are accentuating a bit too much mids to my ears. I understand you were going for a 70's type vibe on this, so I appreciate the warm tones in this...but a few things in the drum kit just seemed a bit too dark to me at times. Nothing major, completely acceptable, just my personal observations.

Other than the above though, this is a really great mix with outstanding performances. You guys make an incredible team. :) Fantastic cover gentlemen! :)

-Danny

Maybe it's just me(very possible) but this seems a few clicks too fast if you are playing it as close to the original as possible. The mix cuts beautifully, I can't comment on the low end because I'm on cheap bubs. I would maybe back off the BG vocs a tad if it were me. I'm not cuttin' on the tune though bro. I liked it and its a great job overall.

Danny - Of course I was going for the 70's vibe initially but then Geno introduced his modern rhythm sound and face melting lead so I suppose updating the drums would be in order:)    Had a few other comments about the drums maybe not being sharp or bright enough.  Fortunately, I have saved all my settings and can update without upsetting the rest of the mix.

Lynn - Thanks, appreciate the listen.

Starise - Thanks for the comment.  Actually this tracks exactly to the tempo map of the original Journey recording.   I did the CTRL + M beat mapping throughout.  Have been doing that recently to get a more natural result.

Bat - Thanks for the comment.   Appreciate it.

I can't get over how good the performances are from all of you!

The mix is so much better. I thought the toms had too much rumble but that may just be my Bose computer speakers. I'll check it out again on my monitors when I can.

Very well done!

Cool stuff,Sounds great!! The only thing that i think sounds a bit off is when the back ground vocals kick in on chorus there's 1 vocal that just sounds a bit to loud and sounds like a female just singing along to the tune in the background.
