So I read that as you don't get an extra 10% on bundles, but you do on individual plugins.

yep , they confirmed the most you get on the bundle is the already set 25%.. just got an email back , but you get the referral bonus (I hope)

Here is the complete email I got from Fabfilter last night/this morning:

Thanks for your interest in our plug-ins! During the holiday sale, you get the maximum of the 10% referral discount and the 25% bundle discount, so that is still 25% on bundles. When you click the link to the shop, you see that the normal plug-ins are discounted 10% because of the referral discount.

Sorry that the email above has no paragraph formation.  Don't know why it posted that way.

BTW, I think bitflipper should still get the referral credit too.  If I use his link to get to teir site, then he should get the credit.

Just my 2 cents--wait that should be $14 credited to bitflipper.

Thanks, guys, I do appreciate it.

It does indeed appear that they've given me a $14 store credit. Woo hoo! This means that after this weekend's gig I'll only be $106.50 short for buying Pro-L! Time to cash in those aluminum cans I've been saving for the homeless fund.

hmm, the complete package seems pretty reasonably priced.  Then again, do I REALLY need any more software?  myolpal already convinced me to get all that softtube stuff (I do like that Trident EQ).    And it's not like I've been making much music since I started my MBA.  Then again, think of all the money I would "save" if I purchased the full bundle, lol.

Think of all the money you'd save if you waited until you got your MBA. You'd probably also have more money to spend after that.

OTOH, you could keep waiting until you start collecting Social Security, that's another money-saving strategy.

Of course I'm sure if I just buy one more plugin, my next song will go platinum, and I can retire in style...

I purchased the Fabfilter bundle with all the Pro plugs plus Volcano 2 and Timeless 2. I wish I had done this before I purchased the Softube plugs because I have been having issues with the Softube plugs while the Fabfilter plugs are just great to work with. I may soften my current feelings about the Softube stuff once I solve the technical issues with them but I seriously doubt I would do anything other than like the Fabfilter stuff more as I use it.

Just one guys opinion...

ty, I will definitely have to make a point to check them out.

Really $600 for the whole bundle isn't a bad price.

The Pro-Q is absolutely the BEST! If you don't buy a bundle, at the very least get that!
Starting to learn the Pro-C now.
The whole package? Man I'm a guitar player, synth's just make me crazy...
I get Timeless, but what does one do with "Volcano"?

I just used your link and purchased the FX Bundle.  So hopefully you will get a little closer to buying the Pro-L.

For $502 I got Pro-L, Pro-C, Pro-G, Pro-Q, Timeless 2 and Volcano 2; it was good deal.  I was iffy about getting Volcano, but it was included (and basically free as I was going to get Timeless 2 anyway) and maybe I will find a use for it.

As with others here, I am impressed with the complexity and yet ease of use and flo with these Fabfilter plugs.

I totally agree with you about Pro-Q. My only addition would be that if you only got that you would quickly hit yourself in the head and say "this is so amazing why didn't I stretch for the other Pro plugins?" Ahhh....the seductive power of software lust...

As far as Volcano, I am a keyboard guy and am very comfortable with synths but you don't have to be to appreciate Volcano. It would depend greatly on the music you are into making. If you are into metal or straight up rock and roll it is probably not going to be something you care greatly about. If you ever create music with pads or at least music that has any sort of soundscaping it would be incredibly useful. Try using the supplied presets as an audio effect on a track just to get some idea of the sonic possibilities.

Right now, say you want to take an audio track and do some sort of filter sweeps to a beat or via some other source of modulation. You could add a synth as an audio effect like Z3TA 2. Of course, when you open up Z3TA if you are not a synth person you are faced with a pretty daunting interface. You can definitely achieve what you want but you are going to have to work at it. Volcano is far easier to deal with and, in my mind, much more controllable to get a sound you are after.

Check out the XLFO feature and the drag and drop routing interfaces. Just real genius compared to how you have to do modulation setups with most synths.

My thinking in all this was that I knew I wanted to get all the Pro plugs. So, for an additional $94 I got two other plugs that I am quite sure will be very handy. Now that I have them I am really glad I made the decision.

HeartBeat,
Thanks for that!
I "knew" I "needed" the FX bundle.
Why did they wait till the tail end of the second Timeless tutorial to show you the Haas trick?
I was almost put off by all the complex routing.
I'll checkout Volcano.

Re:Got referred 2011/12/17 15:11:58 (permalink)
I just watched the Timeless videos for the first time. Golly jeez, calling Timeless a "delay effect" is quite an understatement! The video lost me in a few places, with all those levels of cross-modulation going on, but I got the gist of it. I've downloaded the vids to watch again later.

Previously, I'd been merely looking for an easy-to-use general-purpose delay - which Timeless is certainly capable of being - but all the creative applications make this plugin THE delay plug to end all delay plugs. Definitely on my Santa list. Now to figure out which grandchild won't be getting a gift from me this year...

Tom go and listen to the demo of it, even the sound one. then you get why Bit pretty much thought WOW

I've been in 2 minds , yep it's a lot of money, BUT the reviews from various places have swayed me , much like say if I was gonna buy an RME soundcard etc.

Right Bit, If you just want a meat and potatoes delay get something like Nomad's Echo or just stay with the Sonitus Delay.  What Timeless2 is capable of is on a whole nother planetary system.

Re:FabFilter Holiday Sale is Finally here!! Go Get Ya Some! 2011/12/17 23:59:25 (permalink)
So I finally sat down and pulled out Timeless 2 to play with to see what this new toy could do. Holy crap!!!! I was two hours late getting out to dinner with my fiance' because I just was too busy channeling my inner Laurie Anderson with that plug. Didn't get a real chance to explore tweaking it but was blowing through the exceptional library of presets to figure out what this animal could do. Couple it with Volcano 2 and put something as simple as an unmodulated square wave through it and let the fun begin! Did that, keyboards, string sounds. Good god!

My advice is to make sure you have plenty of time on your hands cause you are not going to want to get away from playing with this toy any time soon once you start. I am SO happy I got this plug as well as the others and it was, for me at the time, the afterthought in the bundle.
