This is really cool... I have a JC-120 like the police guitarist has and you captured it right here. The chorus is very memorable too! I like how the bass fits in the mix. I really understand what works about the Police now. You have thin echoey guitars and big bass :)

Hey James As always, very cool and creative song. I like the chorus alot. If I was to offer any thoughts with fresh ears, I would say the verb is a little washy and distracting from the lyrics. Maybe delay the verb a bit? Also I think the guitars are a tad loud in the chorus, covering up the cool vox. (As a guitarists, 99.9% of my mixes have the guitars mixed too loud!) Those are subjective opinions of course, I realize you were going for a specific style. I really dug the tune and think the arrangement and production are great.

i'm still getting used to the bass response of my speakers in my new room (hence the two fairly rubbish mixes i put out on my last song) so i too am not hearing quite as much bass end as you seem to be James; but overall the song is excellent, of course, it's been a great week or two for mixes on here...

notnat The kick could be a bit louder... and the Vocal melody a little tighter... those are the only issues I hear... I'm still digging this a lot... did you mention what your go-to reverb is? sounds sweet... Thanks for the listens, Frank. I don't have a go-to verb these days. I have been using a lot of the IK CSR stuff....also Valhalla and EpicVerb. They are all on this track.

James brother, how does Valhalla compare to Pristine Space or even EpicVerb only as it pertains to your choice in this amazing tune?

Did you know that if this was madame "Oto?" You could sing it and it would sound the same? That's a dead sexy .wav btw. This mix sounds great, but I think all of your stuff sounds great.

Hey James GREAT tune. From the style of the drum performance and delay/verb/tone of the guitar you have mastered the Police vibe. The mix on my end has a real clean full sound. But, I agree with the others on the kick. KUDOS! OK . . . I found a new mix. The kick has less of the high thump and more low end. Excellent piece! Kev

wow,the comments you have left on my songs, now i know why you knew so much, im sorry but this is the first piece ive heard from you,i should have caught more of your stuff earlier on. this is auwesome, its got a really cool early 80's sound..i eat that stuff up. im just blown away by this jim, seriously. it has the police ring to it but i like that about it. i love hearing songs that have a shell of a personality of other songs,i believe this is the resipe for hits songs. the mix is everything in a song,if you changed anything it would imo take away from the character of this piece, change nothing,no critiqing,no advice.simply briliant. i have never used that word on a song ive heard here in the forum(briliant) consider yourself the first. it is james. Hi James, I just got in and only listened to your last mix on this and it sounds great. The track is very well played and I love the vocals. Reminds me of a cross between Police and Oingo Boingo (Danny Elfman's group in the late 70's. Rimshot

Awesome art-work here, textures I luv most. Ambience textures may seem a little prolonged at times ... on 1st listen. Madame Moto chorus and vocal textures shine as the song goes on. I believe the vocals deserve a little more loudness ... especially as they incrementally (co-)dominate ... on my k701 cans ... else the lead guitar(s) might be more hard panned where they compete with the vocal textures.

Hey, James, Very cool, clever, and unique production, as always from you! I only listened to the new mix (twice). Excellent songwriting, great playing and vocals, and a well balanced, crystal clear mix. I definitely hear the Police influence in the guitars and also in the heavy full mix reverb effect, but it also has your own unique trademark style stamped onto it, which to me is a great thing. Very nice work, buddy, have a great weekend! Bob

This is just great! I hear the bass just fine on my headphones and I definitely see why you're proud of your playing. I can only hope to play like that some day. As you know I'm not qualified to comment on anything else, but I do know it sounds amazing and you make it sound way easier than it is. :)

Super slick production as to be expected. Lacks a strong vocal hook for me. It would be very interesting to hear your buddy Cian work on this. I was listening to Aphasia only the other day and this could do with some of his hooky magic to really complete it.

Eventually I have sing one or two of these myself Wasn't a crit of your singing (hey, I'm in the same boat as you there !) just that the melody or whatever you want to call it isn't one that sticks in the mind, unlike most Police songs. Three listens and you're singing it yourself, whereas this I can't even remember how it goes other than it sounds like the Police.... de do do do de da da da will never win any awards for lyrical or vocal dexterity, but even people who don't like it can remember it. That was the only point I was trying to make.
