... Yeah, we've listened to this a lot, as the song has a tendency to grow on us.

Joy, my 9 y/o took this song (a few days ago) and has played it regularly on her generic iphone.

James,
Sorry I am late for the party.  I love the sound, lyrics and production.  Vocals are great.  Don't know the story either like FBB said but I am sure this song was very much welcomed.  Technically, drums a little ahead or behind.  Would love to be able to get all tracks a little more in sync (not sterile but just a little better aligned in places).  That's a minor comment.  I love this piece.  Thank you.

Merry Christmas.

No problem...a listener is always welcome.

As a drummer, I spend most of my time getting the feel of the drum track down, where it is not robotic but has some slight swing to it. Typically I will have a first beat of a measure's kick anywhere from 5 ticks before or after, though not often, but enough to have some human feel but not be way off.

Where do you find the beat off?

Exceptional work as always from you James. A standard for everyone to aim for. Loved the track and the very clever arrangement. This had a "Rush" vibe running through it for me, especially the stop-start guitar sections. Your vocals are brilliant and just perfect for this track. Very impressive sounding mix and production. Nothing to criticise as it's all good from where i'm sitting.

Thanks, man. I had recently watched that Rush documentary "Beyond the Lighted Stage" (though TBH I was never into them, didn't know much more than the stuff they played on the AOR radio), and I guess it kinda creeped in.

James... what a superb job you did on this.  Loved the song, loved the vocals, the fascinating roll-breaks... and the really intriguing 'sheen' on the vocals.  VERY catchy hook.  Great job!

Ok I am going to have to be careful here because this is obviously a tribute to someone who may not be with us anymore.

Truthly, the mix, the master and the playing are all excellent.

The song though is boring, cliche and I have heard it a thousand times.  The lyrics sound like christan rock.

Sorry James, I have been kind in extending the courtesy towards your craft but as an artist, you have a lot to learn.

Peace Ben

A lot to learn? Of course I do! I am not an artist...I seek to deliver songs in whatever style I feel like in a very relatable way. I have been listening to music for so long, there is no way that there is a single gosh darn original thing in any one of my songs. No shame in admitting that.
