In analog it's a slippery slope... in digital it's more like a cliff?

This one just went in to the collection, where I will attribute it to you unless you happen to remember an original citation.

ALL the Terry Pratchett novels are great, btw, and highly recommended for anyone who hasn't yet discovered this thought-provoking author. Several have been made into movies, and although "Going Postal" may be his best book, it was not the best of the movie treatments. I'd give that distinction to "Hogfather". Rent it for Christmas for the kids.

'Ognis' was a strange one..I remember a thread where some guys 'upstairs' were putting a collab together and he backed out of it by pretending he'd sliced his thumb open, complete with several posts full of 'aarghs' and '..oh no's'..as if you'd still be sitting there typing...

I've been hesitant to point this out, but some of the folks here might be a little off.  Some people are just slightly out of step with reality, you know.

This is the part where I stand with the CoffeeHouse crew, look at the posters on the wall, and say, "That guy was a little odd!"  Someone takes a picture of us, sends it in, and the Merriam Webster folks publish the picture along with my statement under their definition of "Irony".

Edit - I just looked up to see the last time he was around and, rather strangely, his last post appears to be this:

Oaf_Topik

Shooting some pictures.
cause it's swim suit season
Strummy's been kidnapped,
It's Alien, treason

Looking for the sweet spot
in my dented Fender,
Shamed myself in public,

Jessie Sammler:

Whilst perhaps predictably eventually hounded out of town for the evergreen internet offence of being a bloke masquerading as a 'woman'.

I actually found the portrayal of a fictional jaded starlet with a real name, brittle and neurotic, the disaffected and substance aided character was well-observed, intelligent in outlook and somewhat intriguing in itself.  I always felt it (the character) was a flavourful addition to the broth.

I think sometimes there is too much eagerness to spoil a good game for the sake of reality.  After all there are plenty representing themselves as greater characters than their own hearts are telling them is true.

I masquerade on here as a man, will I be hounded out?

Bitflipper has already mentioned Crush. His videos always had me in stitches. Didn't it turn out he was running a pirated copy, got called on it and disappeared to who knows where?

I'd forgottem about 10Ten. He's the one who argued with Noel as to whether or not Noel had changed something in 8.5 to make audio sound different from 8.0.  Freddie backed him up on that one.

He also complained about Scott Garrigus "spamming" the forum ("king of spam" is what 10Ten called him, as well as "worse than Ethan Winer"). Scott should probably include in his sig the hall pass we all gave him back in 2004 with SONAR 4 Power came out, so as to head off future accusations. Then 10Ten managed to insult just about everybody at one swipe when he told us we were all "gullible" for supporting Scott (to which Jonesey replied "I'd rather be gullible than full of sh*t!" way to go, Jonesey).

Yup, 10Ten belongs in the hall of fame.

I felt sorry for shea. They really beat the guy up over that one, but the only real sin he committed was getting overly defensive about his indefensible position.
