IK_Multimedia Gear Credits are a form of currency in Custom Shop, you can use JamPoints toward purchasing them. They aren't currently disassociated and seem "married" already. I see some posts in this thread have cleared up a lot of confusion and corrected a slight error.
Thanks for stopping by and clearing things up.

bluzdog Here's the rub - If you purchase your Gear Credits in the IK online store you can use your Jampoints to save up to 30% on the purchase price. If you purchase the same Gear Credits in the Custom Shop you won't have the benefit of using your Jampoints. So it makes sense to guy your Gear Credits in the IK online store if you have Jampoints.
Slight correction: You can indeed use JamPoints when purchasing Gear Credit packs in Custom Shop, not just when purchasing them in the IK Store:
I stand corrected. Thanks that will make life a little easier. Rocky

Or hardware which you can also purchase there. I was trying to keep it simple is all, since there was a lot of confusion in the thread already.

Yes, I just found this out the hard way. I wanted to buy one of the Max bundles so I thought I would buy some gear credits and then buy it in the custom shop. That is what the web site, and this thread, seemed to point me to. Then I went to the custom shop to find that I could buy almost anything BUT the thing I wanted. I looked and looked and could find no mention anywhere on the web site that gear credits couldn't be used for the Max stuff. So I sent a message to them and they are going to refund me my gear credit purchase for which I am grateful. My question is; Is all this really necessary? Can't a store just charge what they need/want/feel is appropriate and not have all these marketing schemes to try to make more money or whatever the purpose is? I really like Vahalla for the way their products are $50 and will be for the foreseeable future.

You may have to jump through a few hoops with IK, but they do make it were you can get great deals very often throughout the year. Also the original Fender collection is still the best Fender modeling I've heard from anyone.

If IK really wanted to uncomplicate their "promo/reward" process they should just get rid of gear credits altogether. You would earn "Jam Points" with every purchase which could be used to discount the price of any and all new offerings. They could still have sales on anything...even Jam Points. They could even have a percentage limit on how many Jam Points could be used in the purchase of new products...although I think, like most other vendors who offer such policies...that this would be counter-intuitive. In short, it should be a straight, easily understandable way if discounting future purchases based on past purchases.
The system in place now may benefit them...though I'm not sure how...but it certainly proves to be a confusing, obfuscational impediment to their customers...which, in the long run, is never a good thing.

It's a crazy system.
For an overseas buyer I have to consider exchange rates applied at Gear credit and or Jam Points. It's a crazy system that's really only their to further confuse the buyer that they're really paying more when they think they might be paying less. Yuk!

Me too. That's why I did not mention hardware and attempted not to stir up discussion about other software products, not sold via CS.

Amplitube 4 is great because it has a very detailed cabinet modeling. Here is a good video, demonstrating how the right cabinet can influence an amp sound in the real world:

Sorry to hear it is confusing for you. Gear Credits are meant to offer a discount for those who buy them in bulk - the more you buy, the less you pay per Gear Credit. JamPoints can be applied to purchases of Gear Credit packs to make it an even better value. There's no trickery - you are paying less per credit when you purchase larger packs of Gear Credits, and even less when using JamPoints toward a Gear Credit pack. If you do not like the Gear Credit system, you can use traditional forms of currency and JamPoints for up to 30% off purchases in that way too.

I had a Mustang IV for awhile. They are pretty good bang for the buck. I just bought a Fractal Audio systems AX8...so I'm in modeling bliss at the moment.
