MOTU Ultralite...Firewire/Latency/etc...

I'm having a new computer built and along with it am planning on totally rethinking (and reworking) my setup. I'll be going (almost) totally "inside the box". The new audio interface I'm considering is the MOTU Ultralite. Would appreciate any pros or cons fellow Sonar/Ultralite users can provide and any info regarding firewire (vs. usb or pci) and latency of this unit. What I'm after is, of course, low latency, stability and the (I hope) ease of MOTU's CueMix software. I will also be upgrading from 5.2PE to the current 6.2. Your thoughts?

I've used the Ultralite for about a year and I LOVE IT!! It's the most stable and consistent audio box I've found. The latency doesn't seem to be much of a problem, although I don't remember the exact timing, but it's minimal. I don't use the CueMix front-end very often. I did set it up so I can merge my audio from keyboard as well as the audio from the laptop for live use - just one pair going to the FOH. Great unit - Firewire seems to be the best way to go - remember to use the right FW chipset, it does make a difference. (TI as I recall)

I Have one, too, ans I LOVE IT. It sounds great and is very flexible. I can play guitar through (or anything else for that matter) even when the machine is off. Vista drivers are solid, I've had no problems with it. I would not hesitate to recommend it.

One thing to remember: it records at up 96KHz - if you need more look elsewhere.

Had mine about a month now. Love it. To me it seems to produce a much tighter and defined bottom end compared with my M Audio card. Just my opinion but it's worked flawlessly from day one using that very flakey operating system called VISTA!!

At ~$550, it's hard to beat the Ultralite.
It stable... sounds good... and round-trip latency is low
Use a TI FW controller and you'll be rockin'...
