How to actually create beats without an instrument?

I've been waiting forever for a new tutorial video to come out, as this program is useless to me if i cant produce my own beats.
All i really need to know is the pattern editor section, how do i make notes longer?
Everytime i try to make a long note it makes a bunch of little ones and ive tried and tried right click options, the type of brush, and etc but i cant figure out how to make them longer/shorter, etc.

Trying to make long, deep, techno rave or hip-hop like bass beats, since i figure i need an actual guitar for rock songs.

And since i have this software should i really only need a midi keyboard with basic keys, no musicor loops on it? Because i have nothing but my pc-keyboard at the moment..

You will have to manually adjust the note length.. Since you don't have a midi controller to extend any sustain/ note lengths. K2 will only recognize little taps from the PC-keyboard.. That is why you have to do it manually. I've found it extremely hard using the PC-keyboard.. But it can be done.. It's better to use the mouse instead of the PC-Keyboard.

Above the editor you can change your curser from brush to arrow, when it is an arrow you can then grab the edge of notes and drag them to longer leanghts, actualy you can do this when it is in paint mode also,, the thing is you have to grag the edge of a note , it turns into a little sqare then drag it.
you can also adjut the "snap" , find the word snap above the etitor on the right side click the drop down box and select the note leangth you want , then the notes you paint/draw in will be that sise
I havnt used kinetic much lately but you are welcome to personal message me if you need any more help ,,,,goodluck
