All of the M-Audio keyboards have felt kind of cheap and unplayable to me. The master controller keyboards which feel best to me are the CME products - the UF and VX. They're made in China, but the company is owned by Yamaha, so at least you've got a major music manufacturer behind them. Even their synth action stuff feels real good. And their 88 weighted feels really nice.

Thats good to know, I have not tried any of these but alot of products made in china meet or exceed the US versions. They are good at duplicating technology there.

As far as I know Yamaha doesn't own CME. They were the dist. for North America until this past year and someone else got the importing license for North America. I beleive it might be Kay Sounds.

Correct me If I'm wrong. Don't want mis-information going around here

RE: M-Audio keystation 88 pro HELP PLEASE!! 2008/02/20 19:12:02 (permalink)
Hi, I noticed you are using the Keystation 88 Pro with Sonar (I have v.6 Producer). I am having difficulty setting them up and personally, don't really know where to start. I am an old hand at MIDI and such so if you could just kind of point me in the right direction, it would be great. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot specific in the manual or in online help. Thank you. I appreciate any time that can be given to this request. S

I would like to know who carries the M-Audio Key station 88 for $300. Most music stores that I've seen on line are selling this same instrument for $399. There is one with 88 keys for $299, but hardly any of the features that the 88 pro has.

BTW, I went to your garageband site, and enjoyed your music. I like a lot of synths anyway. Do you use a music writing program?

Thanks again for your help.

Glad to help out...
Last holiday sale I saw about 4 used ones at Guitar center for $300. Even at $400 the Pro 88 is a great buy.
Wow thanks for checking my music web site out. I am glad you liked my songs!
I use Cakewalk Sonar and Project 5 sequencers for most of my music. For sound, I also have a Roland JV1010 that I used for many of the songs you heard. I also use many softsynths like Dimension, Rapture, Sytrus, Zebra, Z3ta and many others.

Hi, i have an old Roland PC-200 which works fine. But the action on the black keys are worse then the whities, that´s a fact!
People complaining about US$ 300 bucks for a 88 controller...what do you want, a miracle? Buy one, and if not satisfied, smash it it over your wife´s head! Hahaha!

You can use the midi learn function in sonar to assign the Pro 88 knobs and sliders to work according to your work flow.
I use True Pianos and Dimension for my Piano sounds, there are alot of nice ones in the Dimension expansion packs
However you can do alot with Rapture to
You will notice that there are preset on the Pro 88 try pressing them and you will notice that they are assigned to banks.
