a hot fix? isn't that a patch? We don't need a patch, we need a full installer. Or I could just be misunderstanding you due to fever and exhaustion... I have a bad cold.

As a side note, it would be very useful in future 64/32-bit instruments and software to also have an option to install both copies (and not just one or the other.) For the time being there's too many times where to match up with various software packages (or because certain plugins) you need both. I realize this does make you have to separate some of the registry settings or configs, but it really does aid the transition greatly. For instance Photoshop and Lightroom both install 32-bit and 64-bit versions if you install on a 64-bit system. iZotope plugins also do this (and ask for separate VST dirs for 32-bit and 64-bit.)

"Soon" - Bill wrote that last year. And, it was 2 summers ago that I reported this 1.1 problem for the 1st time.

My radar will stay up, but I've lost faith.

From the sonar forum:

Seth,

How did you install Rapture 1.1 on that NAMM setup? It has been a problem for a lot of us using Windows x64 with Sonar x86 and is well documented in the Instruments forum.

I went through the whole 1) install on an x86 machine 2) copy everything over to the x64 machine 3) enter the registry information 4)copy the user data routine.

And yes it's a total PITA. My information says we'll have a solution for this imminently.

You have not seeing any thing yet, wait until you get to Sonar 8 Windows vista 64, Edirol UA 101, Guitat Rig 3 Upgrade to full version and more...

I honestly think that neither Sonar 8 nor Cubase 4 are mature enough for 64 bit. I decided to wait for some time until they mature. In the mean time I will move to Cubase 4 running on 64 bit computer but installed as 32 bit.

Good Luck!

The only way i was able to do it was to either load it on a 32 bit OS all in the same directory file then copy it over to the 64 bit OS under the x86 tree. Whether you dual boot or have a network set up either way works. Solve a ton of problems of not running under the 64 bit OS.

It's March 2009. Not only do we still not have a fix for the installation issue, what ever happened to the "new and exquisite delights Rapture will bring"? I have not heard anything about a new update or new version for Rapture. Ditto for Dimension Pro and Z3ta+. While we're at it, I haven't heard anything about a new update or version of Project 5 either -- did the release of Sonar 8 + Beatscape sound the death knell for P5? Perhaps this is all Roland's doing -- the product agenda must have been changed along with the list of priorities.

ORIGINAL: René

I have mentioned this previously I think, but the next Rapture update will allow the user to install either x86 or x64 versions of the plug-in on x64 OS's.

As we have linked the new installer with the new and exquisite delights Rapture will bring, we can't unfortunately offer it to you now. It is possible to manually copy the complete \Rapture folder from an x86 install into an x64 install, and it will work. You also need to have the x64 version installed and authorized previously.

If it is anything like most software companies then there are many development projects, many customer wishes, limited number of developers, limited amount of time, limited amount of financies. But there are so many features and options and such with the existing synths as delivered that I need to spend more of my own time learning and using the instruments for making music rather than constantly upgrading--but that's me with my limited budget.
