Listening now, going back and forth between the two I can hear a difference but it's subtle, mostly in the mids. I really can't hear much difference in the bass region. Maybe the high end has a bit more air. The overall level is the same between the two and I don't notice any prominent volume issues with either version. Coudl be that you did such a good job on the no Hairball version that the program didn't have to do much.

As far as the song goes: I like the guitar tone very much. Your instruments aren't all ganged together in the middle and they seem to have their own space in the mix. You played it smart with your vocals and stayed in a comfortable range rather than try and be someone your not, that's a complement BTW, I like the vocals even though the weakest link for me was the vox but not because they were bad, they just felt a little relaxed for this style music, just more energy.

All of this is with my typical "I'm no better than you so take what I write with a grain of salt" disclaimer.

Thanks for the kind words CJ - I actually plucked up the courage to post the Har-Bal version in the Songs Forum yesterday!

I've received some great feedback and advice already so 'Finax Mix' looks like getting changed to 'Penultimate Mix'

That's my jamming buddy of over 25 years, SidStrummerUK on vocal duty CJ. He sings and plays a mean bass on the rare occasion we get to crank it up these days; the repertoire of Priest stuff consists of 30-odd songs - coincidentally those with the 30-odd easiest solos to try and wing!

I had invested in a marvellous piece of equipment to help him do Rob's vocals justice:

Unfortunately, he's got wise to me now and wears a cup when he comes over

He he, makes my eyes water just thinking about it

Anyway, if you're interested, all the guitars, the bass and the vox were done with Line 6 gear, either my POD2 or the TonePort.

Strummy,

You forgot to mention to CJ that the pliers you are referring to are Halford pliers. Plus I thought your mate Sid was going to reduex the vocals.....

He he - I think he'll work out what are supposed to go in the jaws!

And yes to the vocals - just a case of getting round to it I guess.

Well It seems that Photobucket is down. So no pictures. No laughter. only sadness. Woe is me. Woe is me. In any case you should have the taxman come by and visit Sid then have him sing. I think then you will get the appropriate flavor.

CJ I got a nice MCA SP-1 for recording instruments vocals. I intend to mod it to get a little more low end.
