[SOLVED]Problem with SONAR PE on my new Quad Core SYSTEM..

I bought a new system a week before and having problem with SONAR PE Using RME FireFace800 ...
I Use SONAR PE for long time..It was Ok with my Old 3.2GHz Hyper Threading System.with ASUS P4P800...

Problem Starts with new PC...If i enable (Use Multiprocessing Engine) in SONAR PE..it Stop the Recording &

Saying DROPOUT.....Playback is OK..but RECORDING having Problems...
Some times it goes for a while..but not for long time....sometimes 30seconds....Same problem with Audio &

MIDI Tracks...

If i disable (Use Multiprocessing Engine) in SONAR..It Works OK...I think the SONAR will be very slow..Only

Single Core is working.... Then i Installed Creative Audigy PCI Card...it works OK..on Enabling (Use

Multiprocessing Engine) in SONAR..

Pls Some One Help me to Solve this Problem...i Upgraded My System becoz my Old System Is very Slow...
I wanna USE FF800.....with SONAR...i have tried it SONAR PE v7.0.0 , v7.0.1 & v7.0.2..but Same Problem...

Here are my new System Config...Below:

Have you tried disabling the wireless before starting Sonar? Also, it might be a good idea to check the RME website concerning compatibility with the Agere firewire chipset that's built into the board. I noticed that the board also has power-saving stuff built in for the CPU and other things. Maybe try diabling that also. Hope you get it going.

when you say, "bought", do you mean "built"?

I ask because I see specific memory settings. I would say that if you built the system, start at default and then tweak a step at a time.

And as above, what DarinBad said. Also, do a search for, "DPC".

I've had more time to play with this, and am withdrawing the bug remarks.
This appears to work as designed and is actually a pretty cool feature.

Here's a link to a recent DPC/latency thread... happen to have it handy.

This is a known bug with Quad core processors. Has something to do with the audio metronome.

I hope it'll be fixed with Sonar 8.

I have a similar problem with my setup (dual core amd, see bottom of post) - I simply cannot use the 'Multiprocessing' option or I get poor performance (motorboating too) and frequent dropouts with playback and record. With the option off, all is ok. I posted about his going back (http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=1324497&mpage=1&key=) and went a little crazy trying to fix it and had *limited* improvements with turning off Windows Vista exclusive mode (I have noted that you are using XP so this is not the problem), but it did NOT solve the problem and nowadays I have the Multiprocessing option off all the time.

I would be very keen to hear if you manage to correct the issue as I find this problem particularly annoying - whether it is a Sonar 7 issue, my EMU1616m drivers or some other hardware/software causing issues I just don't know.

I'm off to go and check the other posts and suggestions about this now...

    Good luck!

I'm using a Quad core with no problems and I have the multi-processing engine on. However, I am not using Vista.

It is? Not sure about this. But I do know that as of this time only the TI firewire chip is recommended. It may be simply that a TI chip add on card card may solve the problem. The DPC latency could be a cause too. Yet I would check the firewire setup first.

Got a quad core too running XP Pro with no dramas... networking can cause the usual griefs though... has the expected DPC impact.

Happy hunting.. this sort of thing can be quite distracting from the primary purpose of it all.

    Cheers.

Do a search on "Audio Metronome problems" and you'll see quite a bit of info on the subject. It got me out of trouble. I was experiencing exactly the same issues as the OP.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

I am using a Quad-core AMD system and have had only one problem. The audio was stopping on EVERYTHING because my audio card (M-Audio1010lt) would only work with 4gb ram - i was using 8. I got a beta driver from M-Audio and it fixed the problem. I do not know if this helps, but you might try looking at your other hardware. Also - I am using XP64.

I also have a Quad Core, I was having constant freeze-ups until I opened the VST plug in folder. And moved each DLL to a different location until I found the culprit.
    ...I am using XP64 Pro
