The photo is a bit on the yellowish side. Good concept though.

Maybe that's because the guitar wall is reflected in the gold plating on a Gibson Burstbucker Type 2. I like warm, gold-tinted imagery. Have you seen the new Kevin Smith movie? It's full of warm, gold-tinged lighting. Very nice.

    I like your style Jessie.

I find this sort of slightly abstract photography very interesting - I may have to see if I can come up with something along these lines!

There's always more than one way to skin a Pete.

At least Jessie owns some guitars bell-end.

And knows how to record them.

    Unlike yourself.

Since when is 2 out of 8 "mostly"? And the two that are Ibanez are freaking awesome Japanese ones with Edge trems and DiMarzio pickups.

    George Benson
    Phil Collen
    Marty Friedman
    Frank Gambale
    Paul Gilbert
    Herman Li
    Pat Metheny
    John Petrucci
    Joe Satriani
    James Shaffer
    Steve Vai

    'Course, what do they know..?

I was actually fortunate enough to talk to Frank Gambale a couple of times. It was one of the biggest thrills of my life! A really nice man.

I was kind of embarassed when I saw him play a few years ago. I hadn't seen a picture of him in a really, really long time, and I was walking into the venue (a small jazz bar where he was playing with Vital Information), and I noticed some guy with rugged features, walking out for a smoke. We passed within inches, and I asked myself silently, "Who's that old guy who looks like Joe Pesci?" Yeah, it was Frank. He played great, and he talked to one of my guitarists friends at least three different times between sets. Nice guy.

Speaking of Ibanez, my 7-string is a hard-tail Japanese RG7621 with Seymour Duncan Jazz and JB humbuckers, 10-56 strings, a medium-high action, and a Buzz Feiten modification done by Dan Erlewine. Not your typical RG, but one of my best-sounding guitars. Ibanez can be whatever you want it to be.

Ewww Buzz Feiten...actually has zero to do with string buzz. For the kind of money they want I'm uber pleased with Earvana...

"Buzz" is Howard Feiten's nickname. No one claims that it has anything to do with string buzz. For the money I spent, I got Dan Erlewine's shop to do a full setup and make a bone nut by hand. Somehow, having some random guy in Korea slap a plastic nut on your guitar as it moves down the assembly line isn't the same thing.

The Ibanez guitars that the well known guitarists use are heavily modified by the manufacturer so they can get the guitarists endorsements. That way, they can charge an extra $1000 for their signature models, that sound pretty much the same as any other model.
I've met and worked with a lot of really famous musicians, and they are just like everyone else, some are really nice and some are real snots. It all depends on the individual.

You've obviously never played a Jem and compared with other similar Ibanez guitars. If you did, there's some danger you'd have a clue what you're talking about.

Hey Jessie - with a little editing, your post would make an ideal template for use as a stock reply to anything the cerebellum-challenged one says.

Copy, paste and fill in the gap - piece of cake.

All this time I had thought the name was some claim to what it does "Buzz Fightin" *blush* :P I had been put off by the early adverts that gave little clue to how it works. After I had looked into it I felt it was very identical to the Earvana system. Aside from the cost and simplicity of the Earvana system, I like that it requires no permanent mods to the guitar or resetting the intonation. AND they're working on a direct drop in for Floyd type nuts!

And NO other manufacturer does that? Do ya think the ESPs Kirk Hammett takes on stage are right off the shelf sig models? Do ya think Eric Clapton's Fender is precisely the same as the ones sitting in Guitar Center? If I swap a store bought Gibson Zakk Wylde Les Paul and switch it with the identical one he uses on stage he won't have a clue? Why haven't your musician friends given you tips on good recording software?

It's pretty simple. It doesn't require permanent modification to the guitar. It does require resetting the intonation, which is in fact the key to how it works. This page from their website sums it up pretty well:

    How Buzz Fieten works..

And yes, you can Feitenize a guitar with a Floyd.

Don't let Petey-Pie get you too worked up. He just hates Ibanez more than he likes whatever it is he's playing, and he won't be happy until everyone else is in the same boat.

Good point however, there are some guitarists who insist that whatever is produced for them for their use in an endorsement be available in exact duplication of the off the shelf model. Malmsteen and Vai are a couple I can think of off the top of my head. But then again that is why these guitar companies have custom shops.

I'd love to get my paws on a Pablo Santana built and prepared Jackson RR. And the thing is comparatively they are affordable. I mean when compared to a top of the line Custom Shop Gibson Les Paul which I am sure in the course of it's life will probably suffer from breakage at the scarf joint though it'll cost 3 to 4 times as much as the Jackson.

Jessie I like the photo. Some what abstract but still able to tell what the subject matter is.

And yes, you can Feitenize a guitar with a Floyd.

It's been a while since I looked at the info on BFTS, makes me wonder who's gonna sue first, BTFS or Earvana since both involve moving of the nut (surface) a hair closer to the saddles. The Earvana Floyd nut has overhang on the nut so moving the entire nut shelf is not needed, but BTFS didn't say if theirs was a whole new nut or moving the original. If I have a guitar with a standard nut again I may look into BTFS if the cost is right.

BTFS is a new nut. It's a shelf nut with a slight overhang. Frankly, I'd be very skeptical of a lawsuit claim by either company against the other. BTFS doesn't have the different shelf lengths for each string, and Earvana doesn't have the patented intonation offsets. If they work, they work.
