Art voice channel
Has anyone got the Art Voice Channel, if so have you managed to get the USB output to work at 24bit, vista seems to set the driver to 16bit

I meant to say usb output in my original post I have corrected it, its a great sounding unit, apparently according to the manual supplied and online the output supplies both 16 and 24bit, no driver is supplied by the manufacturer, it uses generic windows drivers, the vista driver seems to be 16bit as it keeps resetting it to that, this forum is just full of helpful future thinking folks I must say, if you have a problem this is the first place to look

So your using it as an output interface only. whats your input interface?? did you go into the global options in sonar and check 24bits for recording? is your other interface you use for input set for 24bit.. I wouldnt use 2 interfaces. I would chose one and one only. Make sure your Playback and Recording timing master correlate with both devices also. Its weird that an interface (ART) doesnt have drivers. All interfaces should have specific drivers written for them Cj

It actually is an all in one kind of interface, you can connect about anything to the input, and send it out the various outputs, it does have a spdif I can connect to my focusrite with, using wdm drivers it does work like that, it also works with the other drivers direct to the daw, using wdm as a usb connection except it resets the sonar driver to 16bit, I thought I had seen someone mention they had used it in 24bit mode in xp, it seems that it should work in 24bit in vista as well,

It actually is an all in one kind of interface, you can connect about anything to the input, and send it out the various outputs I know that... Thats why i asked why are you only using it for outputting if so have you managed to get the USB output to work at 24bit I think we got mixed up or i got mixed up..LOL It happens, it is the net ya know. If you have a focussrite (what is it?/ sound card?? Pre amp??) If its a sound card, then the focusrite pres are most likely better than the Art's pre's and i wouldn't even use it. Also the focusrite has better drivers. The Art has none, like you stated. If your trying to use both, then you need to use WDM driver mode and make sure both are set for 24bit. The problem most likely is the ARt, it was never proven to work good as an interface (google it and youll see) and it has no drivers to be used a good interface Cj

I have a focusrite 26i/o and it also sounds very good, in all honesty the preamp in the voicechannel is great, it is a new item, its a tube preamp with eq, compressor etc. I plugged in a microphone and it sounded great right away,

so just plug the art into the focusrites line in or pre amp or use the spdif connection. Dont use the art as an interface. 1 sound card at a time is the best way to go about recording. I use allot of outboard gear and that how i do it and thats the best way to do it. also, if your focusrite has sends and returns, You can do it that way also. You can also route it in the focusrite's internal mixer . There are so many ways to do this and your tring to do it the only wrong way Cj
