Not allowing license transfer is illegal in Europe, revealing after payment unfair
1. To say the least, revealing the impossibility of license transfers only after the purchase is unfair. More so: I asked Cakewalk customer support via email if license transfer is possible since there was no info on their homepage. No reply. Very friendly, thank you. 2. In Europe any such limitation brought to the attention of the buyer after he or she paid is ineffective even if it was otherwise legal. 3. Not allowing license transfers of software is illegal in Europe in the first place.

Jeez, just don't buy Cakewalk then. I ain't no lawyer but I think if you buy a downloadable product you are stuck w/ the laws that apply in the country of purchase. Feel free to "sell" your 2nd hand software to someone else, tho they won't be able to register it. FYI, I have never seen a post critical of Cake software get "deleted." Some have been locked or removed when they strayed into politics/religion. It seems that you have had a bad experience w/ some product of Cake's. Perhaps an explaination of your difficulties would get some of the users here to help. And the mods stop by sometimes - you'll might get an answer or help if you've tried support to no avail (btw - have you checked your spam box?). But threatening threads headers ain't the way to do it.

And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

But threatening threads headers ain't the way to do it. I was not having any trouble with Cakewalk products. I was evaluating wether or not I would buy Rapture. This would be my first Cakewalk product. It stands that they neither have any info on their webpages that inform a buyer of their policy regarding license transfer (not allowed) before the purchase nor did they answer when I asked. I did indeed check the spam folder before writing this here. So in general this info policy and the mere fact of not allowing license transfers is not user friendly -from my point of view. It is also correct that this part of the user agreement is not legal in Europe. At this point of time I see no indication that Cakewalk cares about this so I thought this should be brought to the attention of other potential buyers.

plec, I looked at the thread. For $99 is a no brainer if you need a general purpose synth. frosch, it is a great soft synth for just about anything you want to do synth wise. It is a good, clean sharp synth and the expansion packs are packed w/ wierd presets. It is fairly easy to program, esp. if you stick to one element before heading out to multi sounds. It ain't a gm synth to replicate horns and such, if that is what you are looking for, but it makes synth and keyboard sounds. there are a lot of other presets/sounds available - one of the members here sampled a couple of hundred old analog synths and made the sfz files available. The only other synth I use on everything is alchemy, which has a "thicker" (if that makes any sense) sound. It is considerably more expensive. I'm pretty sure you can download both the intel and mac versions, to answer your kvr question. Cake is a little slow answering tech requests, but that is pretty much par for the course unless you know who to talk to or a small developer is checking his mail every night. Really, it is a great synth, esp. for that money and I have a ton of them. I really don't know what you expect from Cakewalk - a fully functioning version to demo before you might send in your money? No one does that. If you can't get a sense of what this synth is about and its programablity (even w/ a reduced sound set) I don't know how you are going to ever make a decision to buy any softsynth out there. Good luck. @

Good luck. @ I get the argument. I just don`t agree completely. I am accusing Cakewalk of running an unfair policy but I still want to be fair and not advocate other companies` products in this thread. I do think however that there are more versatile synths in the market for 99-150€. Other manufacturers choose more realistic demo limitations. Being interrupted and distracted every 15 seconds is a bit too much.
