Clowns always cry. Perhaps that's why so many people find them disturbing.
Every silver lining has a dark cloud.
I like the depth of the lyrics. Hope, triumph, trials.
The vocal track is coming through here a bit strong in the high mids. I realize there were some challenges, but if this were tamed a bit, I think it would drop in very nicely. As it stands, there is a brittleness that doesn't quite do it justice.
I don't want to seem harsh, but this is so very nearly perfect.

Yo Janet,

Great project, here. A fluid, flowing piano part is well matched with an intimate, earnest vocal.

I might have gone for a more active, contrapuntal, and/or harmonic string part.

The lyric is unusual and I like it, even though its a bit maudlin for my taste.

Cheers and happy New Year,

Bert

Perfect ... if not a bit long (for macho-pop listeners).

Ending is abrupt/cut-off .. needs a little bit of fade-out or some piano ambience.

Vocals are crystal perfect until last 30 seconds ... please clarify those final phrases in the last 8 measures (there is some melodic interference fighting those precious last words. ...I might perhaps lower instruments a dcb during those inspiring consonants and/or raise the vox volume a hair)

Janet, you are a wonderful pianist. I also love the strings behind. What did you use for those? Is that a violin? Nice touch.

There's something kinda weird about the vocals, they sound like she's singing into a closed space, though the performance is very nice. It's not enough to worry about, just a comment. Oh, I'm hearing some kinda flangy effect maybe?

OK, I'll take my producer's hat off now. Thoroughly enjoyable. I really like the chorus and the flourishes involved, nice deep and resonant. Well crafted and constructed tune, Janet. Thanks for sharing, and excellent work to all!

Wow. Beautiful song...piano playing is really super... had the same vibe with the vocals ed mentioned, but was a minor thing...the performance is so strong did not distract...congrats on a very well done song!

Bob--your pessimistic optimist side is coming through again. But yes, this side of heaven it's true about the silver lining... Very nearly perfect, hu? Wow--that's huge. Thanks! I know it needs work, but I think I'm done with it for awhile. Quite a few other projects are screaming for my attention at the minute.

Bert--yes, if I redo this, I'll redo the instrumentation for sure. And yes, it's unusuall--I know every song doesn't work for everyone. Thanks for the kudos!

Wilson--Thank you!

Philip--I'll hand those comments over to Cliff. :-) Thanks for the comments!

Mark--reselling my songs? Wow! That's a compliment. Thank you!

Ara--thanks so much!

Scott--thanks so much! I appreciate that. Yes, the vocals need some help. You should've heard them before Cliff worked his magic on them!

Gene--I appreciate that a lot! Thank you!

Hi Janet, Dave, and Mark.

Nice Job. I think it sounds very good.

The only thing that I would have done is to have put a touch of, or more, reverb on the vocal. Just to bring it out and give it more presence.

Regards, Linda

Janet, I don't recall the first mix, but here goes.
Is that you singing? Wow. Terrific job. Piano is up to your usual high standards, clean and clear. I like the touch of the strings as subtexts, so to speak. Solid composition and excellent piano playing. Well donw.

Hey Janet!!

Thank you very much....and you have me pegged! I am always working on some new song...and then I reach a certain point where I come here for some fresh inspiration or just to see what my "song" friends are up to.

...and I think you should start laying some of your own vocals down!! Everytime I listen to your stuff...I want to hear you sing..

Have a great day...Linda
