Yamaha KX61 with Sonar

Anyone using a KX with Sonar and if so what's your opinion? I have a Yamaha 01x plus a Motif Rack ES and need to get a new controller. tempted to get a Yamaha KX61 although the manual doesn't stop talking about its integration with Cubase. I'm realy in between the devil and the deep blue sea here as I am well into Yamha products but since they purchased Steinberg I feel a little bit left out of the picture being a Sonar user. I have Cubase 4 but after using Sonar so long I just cannot get my old head around Cubase at all.

    Hi Gerry,

I am in the same boat . My Yamaha DX7 is old and has no real velocity (7 steps). So thinking about the KX61 to replace it. What I found out on http://www.xfactorvst.com/media.php it can work with Sonar. But there is also the edirol pcr800 to consider with after touch!

Guess i have to go to the musicstore

    Kind regards

Well the KX61 works perfectly with Sonar but for some reason would not record the arp's in midi from the KX. It would appear the real benefit of the KX series is with Cubase and I have upgraded to Cubase 5. Now here is the rub Yamaha have not yet updated the drivers for the KX to be fully integrated with Cubase 5 Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh they say the end of this month.

If you are staying with Sonar I would honestly consider the Edirol.

    Best,

    Gerry

See post #4 in this thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=1934040.

It helped me get my KX8 setup with Sonar. It should work the same for your KX61.
