You get more the more you spend but spending $350 or even yes I seen some for $500 is too much for me. Call me cheap, but ear plugs from Bose (IE2 I think) is good enough for $99 where I bought them. And they sound better than the other headphones I ran into at that store, but then you would have to go on-line to a pro place to pick up something expensive.
I figure most people do not have the money to spend on stereos and mainly have sub-woofer computer speakers and having that 1-2% expensive equipment is only that many people in the world having such a system, and the rest, the main stream of people don't have it.
(luckily I bought my Nad Amp a long time ago, and yes I do really like it, and they still make a cheap one that people may buy and speakers, but then it is still easier to buy that cheap computer speaker stuff than anything else.)
