Stained Glass

I wrote this one about a year ago and I am finally finishing it upto consolidate with some other songs to go on a CD. It is a Christian Rock song. Let me know if the mix sounds balance, that is the stage that I am in right now. I think that I have heard it to much and I need a fresh set of ears.

    Hi Mike,
    Cool rocker! I would spend a little more time balancing the instruments. It's 'almost' there but that rhythm guitar on the right is a tad 'out front' also, the electric that comes in on the left a tad loud too. The vox tend to get a bit buried when those guitars are playing. The lead as well... it seems those 3 guitars jump out on top of the drums and vox.
    I'd try a bit more processing (FX) on the vox and some compression to smooth them out.
    I'm not a fan of compressing things as a solution... preferring envelopes but, I think these could use some smoothing.
    It's almost there... nice!

    Within the first measure I was wishing I knew how to play the guitar. What an amazing intro. I love it!!! Well, I love the whole song, actually...great chord progressions, great guitars...and those drums are really cool, too. Toby's got some good points about the mix. Vocals are good too...I was just enjoying listening to the music too much to pay much attention to the words to tell you the truth. I'll focus on those on the next listen.

    Mike - you should really be proud of this - it is really good. Your vocals are great - really.

    This had a taste of Vinnie Zummo to it. If you don't know who Vinnie is - you should - do yourself a favor - listen to Fab Gear and Photograph here:

    You're good dude - keep them coming.

    I love it! I'm now a Vinnie fan.

    Mark, Mama Bear, Toby;

    Thanks for the listen. Toby, your comments were very similar to several comments that I got from posting this at another site as well. I often throw them up in multiple places at the same time, just to make sure that I am hearing consistant comments. I have since gone into Sonar and made some quick adjustment and reposted the song on Sound Click. I think it is really close now.

    Mamabear, I have always wished I could play piano like you!

    Mark, most of the comments I have gotten about my vocal abilities have always been waaaayyyyy short of great. You have made my day, dude. I have another one finished that is at the same point, just tweaking the mix a tad. I may post that one in a couple of days as well. All of the comments have been really useful to home this one in.
