remix Kid Blue

I had this song up last summer and since i have this demo of PSP vintage warmer for another 5 days i thought i'd remix what was needing some velvet.

This song needed lots of envelopes for essses and some compression for bass. i tweeked levels and I put the vintage warmer in the a buss and piped it through the master.
I think it is much warmer then i used to have it....although there are still some esses peaking through

Spectacular drumming by Jonbouy...

This does sound very warm and homey.

The guitar sounds great with it.

Your music never ceases to impress me. The changes are just phenomenal. Rick, this is a very exceptional tune. Musically and conceptually! Wow, what a weekend, Gents and DistantTowers on a friday night.

    Yo Rick,

    Really unusual tune, as usual.

As usual, I don't know where its going until I listen. Great rhymes; 'the kitchen' with 'magician', 'castle' with 'hassle', etc. (triple para-rhyme & double perfect rhyme, respectively-real good)

I'm getting an early Steely Dan vibe -which is strong, as far as I am concerned.

Interesting home life, you have.: 'witch is in the kitchen' (?)

Keep it coming- its good stuff. And don't hold back, next time.[image][/image]

    Cheers,

    Bert

    Great songwriting!

Sounds good - have a couple of nits.. :
    - I'd like the vox a tad louder - espec. the parts where the drums are busy.
    - A couple of places towards the end, the instruments fall a bit out of "sync".

Really impressed with this Rick. Don't know why but it takes me back to a feel of the late sixties early seventies when bands started to experiment with rythmns and harmonies (Beatles influence I suppose).
    Really cool....

Wow, what a cool song! Very strong melody and I really like the minor chord at the end of the verse. The vocal and harmonies are great and Jonbouy has managed to get a Ringo sort of feel on the drums which seems totally appropriate for the song. Great!!

I don't remember this one. Maybe the vintage warmer drastically changed my memory.

    1:10+ is spectacular.
Drums at 1:40+ have a sweet vibe that compliments things well.

Sounds vintage and warm ... but also airy (above the sib range) ... which I like. Gives a sort of vinyl ambience, thus.

Listened twice ... vox levels seemed perfect on the 2nd go-round (to my ears).

Overall: simple, vibrant and fun ... with a few loose ends (timing issues btw vox and high hats during 1st minute) ... a very sweet garage sketch-demo (to my ears). But, I personally feel (at this time) that this is worthy of a fuller production ... due to its pop-simplicity and mainstream appeal. Maybe keep this pastel sketch (as is) and produce another oil-painting version based on this. JMO.

Ahhhhhh, nice to hear this again. Love the lyrics on this piece. Jons drumming really gave this a live vibe. The vintage warmer seems to be working. On my end it might be working to good. The synth tempo that comes in around :40 gets lost in the mix at times. I also agree with Tom the vox could come up a bit. EXCELLENT piece of music! Thanks for letting us hear a blast from the past.

Hi Ron ~ I'm glad you are liking it....thank you for the listen!

Warren ~ I'm digging that new offering of yours and Mark's a lot. Very fresh. Thanks for coming by!

Bert ~ These last few years I've actually loved writing lyrics whereas i used to dread it. Maybe because there's a lot more to sing about then my poor broken heart. Hold back? big ol' dude like me? I, Shirley Won't!!! Thank you so much for popping in and dropping some comments.

M.Man ~ Thank you! Yes, I recorded the track and later (after i'd already de-shmumped it) Jonbouy left me the gift of his drum playing. He gave it as a simple gift and not meant for a colab but greedy guy i am i used it and had to "play" with some of it in the middle. Any timing wrinkles are my impetuous strayings.

Alan ~ Yes, I hear a lot of Beatle harmonies especially the middle....big "Beatles' For Sale" influence. I'm very happy you came by. Thank you for listening

Hello Gary ~ yes, Jonbouy's heartfelt drums are outstanding. Thank you for the listen.

Tom ~ I did do quite a few colabs this last year. Amazing anyone still talks to me. I did bring up the vox some...may need to tweek more. Thank you, sir!

Philip ~ The vintage warmer is one of those things in life i get to be excited about legally. I ran down my list of songs and saw a few could profit from this nice vintage emulating technology....don't know why...i, myself, don't like being so vintaged. Not sure if i'll ever get around to redoing it. Thank you for the listen and notes.

Grant ~ Wow...very nice thing to read. Thank you for coming by to listen!

Tony ~ Not sure i could stay focused long enough to make an album...too many second thoughts and 'I shoulda' s . Thank you for the listen.

Hi Kev ~ That synth thing is very evasive. It doesn't cut through and i don't want it too obvious. I'll try panning a bit.
Yes, Jon's drums put a fire under it.... Thank you!

robby ~ Thank you for stopping by to listen!

Freddy ~ Good to hear ....Thank you very much!

I have to say that the first few times I listen to a tune it's all about the overall "feel" of the song. Gents songs always feel good. This is about the 5th time through for me and I'm starting to appreciate the percussion by Jon. Very tasty stuff. I know the song better and can start breaking down what makes it tick and be so pleasant. That's easy, IT'S YOU GUYS!!!

I'm not sure if I missed the extremely cool harmonies last time, or I just noticed them more this time, but they're great. Cool song and some nice additions to the original. Cool drumming by Jon of course. :-)

i find this one very interesting. it makes me wonder how a
person can come up with the ideas to make a tune like this.
im not shure how to discribe it except to say its just very good.

Hello Warren, Thanks for the many listens. Makes my heart go thumpity thump!

Janet, I boosted the harmonies a bit. Lots of stuff i've learned since last time i posted it. Thank you for the listen.

Jimmy, How does anyone come up with what they write? Pain. Love....more pain.....less love.....lot's more pain.......then BOOZE!!!!!!! Thank you for the listen and comments!

Very nice indeed. This is very inventive and different. I loved your vocals in this, full of character and emotion. Gtreat arrangement and drumming. Excellent.
