AcmeBarGig Whisper TUBE Released...Freeware
Here is an amp that first came out with DIG 2.0. It was added to that suite if you remember, because DIG 2.0 had a hard time getting nice clean tones. Well as for about a zillion requests from ABG testers and the public in general Here it is, a standalone version of Whisper with a 12AU7 tube added... Whisper still has all the same great crystal clear sound it did before, but now you can warm it up VIA 12AU7 Tube. It has a relatively mild drive to it if you want as well. This is done by adjusting the tube drive knob above the Master Volume.. Get it here.. http://acmebargig.com/whisper-tube/

Have you guys considered releasing one "deluxe" amp sim project that combines all of the other ones you've released? (ala Guitar Rig, Amplitube, etc) To be honest, I've stopped looking at your stuff (around release 3 or 4) since I really would prefer not wading through 20 different plugs that each have a single focus. Maybe it's a guitar player thing (which I'm not), similar to collecting pedals. I hate to sound like an ingrate, because it really has been generous of you to release all of these for free... but I for one would be happy to pay for a good quality, versatile amp sim/FX plug, ideally in the sub-$200 range.

Yeah we are releasing exactly the plug you have mentioned...It too will be freeware...However, I release these so that we can get them fully tested in the public before we add them all to Gestalt..The "Deluxe" amp you speak of... I actually stopped posting here too for a while, just trying to be respectful, I see its time to lay off again...Not a problem point taken....There will not be any further ABG posts here, We are not here to be dis-respectful or at least we try not to be...Sorry for any of the problems we have caused this community it was certainly not intentional.. The reason I came here was to ask if anyone had any trouble with the Canadian Metal Release in Sonar? and if so, what plugs? We want to support Sonar like we do Reaper and others, and we thought this is the perfect place to release the freeware, as it is the Cakewalk forum... But I see we are only being disruptive, and once again Sorry for that it really is not intentional.. We are just trying to support Sonar Users where possible... MODS, Please feel free to remove all AcmeBarGig threads, and sorry we did not mean to be disruptive... KM

Why would this be taken as disruptive? I think you've taken the post a bit harsh...no-ones asking anyone to download these and one is accusing you of disrespect, though I read it as maybe just a little unintentionally rude, then take it in context...many of us look forward to your releases and this is as good a place as any to announce them...granted when they cost some $ (albeit the very reasonable $10) then perhaps it could be mistaken as advertising.. I can only speak for myself but Id be sorely disappointed if you stop posting here, granted I can go to your website, but Id like your products to reach a wider audience because I think they are that good and I am very grateful...and no Im not Canadian, nor do I play metal for that fact

I don't think it's a problem at all that you post here. It's clear enough what the thread is about in the thread title (easy to ignore if someone wants). The only thing that gets tiresome to me is people posting pure drivel and thinking they're funny.

As a general rule, I don't want to see every plug-in producer in the market constantly hawking his wares in the Cakewalk Forums. But your AcmeBarGig product announcements are a DEFINITE exception. To me, being able to learn right here when a new one of your excellent, useful and FREE plug-ins becomes available is a big plus for this forum and one of the reasons I check it out frequently. So don't go away. Keep announcing.

Well OK Guys I just thought that we were sort of bothering the community, which as I said was definitely unintentional..So OK, We just continue... Thanks, So has anyone had any problems with the Canadian Metal release in Sonar? I have heard that SoloC did not run in it...But that has now been fixed and will be re-released later tonight.. But all the ABG plugs work in it right? Thanks guys.. KM

JonD, I was not offended in any way..Please don't think that... Its just that we have a new rule at ABG, ever since we had trouble at Harmony Central, I put this rule in place, so I can't very well not follow it myself..We post at over 40 Forums, all of which we're welcome at..But, if for some reason any of us feel that we are being disruptive, or causing issues at a forum, we are to move on right away...So, that is what I was prepared to do... The reason is.. I have posted I think 3 times here lately and had very little response from anyone, and the threads just drop off..So, I'm thinking that we are not wanted...Then, the first post I saw was yours, which was very respectful and non offending, but stated to me what I was already thinking..So, the new forum posting rule was applied...All of our forum posters do the exact same thing....After all, a company can doom itself very fast by pissing people off in the forums, the VST corporate graveyard is full of them.. So, no offence taken, and was not you...Just a rule I set in place to protect ABG from potentially bad situations..We don't want to be the bad house guest so to speak... There are forums that we will never post at again, HC for starters, If this rule was in place before, we would not have had a problem there. So, no big deal man.. KM

I think you've found a pretty good balance on this two-way street. We benefit from your free amp sims, and you benefit from feedback that affects product development. It's all good.

Hey, appreciate you clearing that up. As for your announcements, personally, I don't see it being a problem, especially here in the software forum. And as you can see from this thread, you've got plenty of fans! So don't go away for lack of responses. It's been my observation that this forum doesn't get anywhere near as much traffic as, say, the Sonar forums. I wouldn't take that as a lack of interest. If the guys here are like me, they probably frequent two or more audio forums and possibly have more of a "presence" on the busier ones like KVR. Anyway, keep on posting, and best of luck to you!

Hey Ken, thanks for all the great plugs you've made available. Personally I think you've been very generous with all the work you've done, Besides the sonar forum, and an occasional stop in at KVR I don't think I would have come across your site. Glad you stop in and add so much to the community. Solo C just blanks out out upon initiation, all the rest fire up nicely.

What do you mean "with a 12AU7 tube added" I applaud you initiative and entrepreneurial spirit. I also think you are very gracious and well mannered in how you present your work products here at the forum. I would miss your posts if you choose to refrain. I am however, deeply distressed by the statement about the tube... and it causes me to immediately consider whether I think your dev team knows the difference between a 12AX7 and 12AU7 designs (let alone good or bad examples of said design) and and how the curves respond in a circuit... or if I think you are just cranking a couple of parameter settings and using terms like 12AU7 for entertainment purposes. Whats next, the 12DX7? The point is, that for some potential customers... digital tubes are a turn off. very best regards, mike

haha the KVR forums just as argumentative as here...who woulda thought Do people forget...this is free? < bangs head > Yup tried out the metal release including the update on both sonar and ableton...no problems now, some good tones..there ...havent really used whisper much but clean tones are an alien concept to my ageing washburn (though it likes Distortus) so I think Ill plough ahead with that plug in to try and find something reasonable..The Poulins stuffs good, I just need more impulses...I cant get any volume out of that acoustic one you pointed out...

Hey, I'm just telling you how I feel... and I see by your response over at KVR that you're not forth coming in discussing your insights about the mathematical modeling that you use to represent "tubes". I'm of the opinion that real life tube devices are easy to acquire... not as easy as a free plugin maybe... but not so hard that "make believe" tubes should be accepted as a practical substitute with out question of how they are described. Have you considered just describing your work product as a "good sounding" circuit? As I mentioned above I think, that in general, you're doing a real good thing here at the forum. best regards, mike edit to add: I should have written 12D W7... a mistake on my part... then maybe you would have gotten the joke :-)
