    Always in a seperate track.

You always want to record anything to it's own track.... if you mix 2 things in the same track...like an acoustic guitar and a vocal...they are forever joined. So ALWAYS use a new track for each new instrument/vocal.

No problem. To import your existing track, start a new project in Sonar and from the new project menu, select "stereo mastering" (right at the bottom), because it's a straightforward track with no midi or other propositions to get in the way. This gives you a vacant track. then "File - import - audio". Find and select your file and it will be imported into the track.  Then click  "insert new track" (the "+" sign top left of screen) and select "audio" and a new track will appear. Click and drag the bottom edge of the track downwards so you can see what you need to see and select the input and output device or devices you wish to use for  recording/playback
