Maybe I'm blind, but I'm not sure what to look at.  That MIDI clip color doesn't help either.

By the way Paul, did you try making changes to your clips without having them selected.  Brundlefly and I have explained why you're having issues with this on our previous posts.  Check 'em out if you haven't :-)

Now I drag and drop a new piece of midi from guru (which is minimized) into my midi track.
The first clip is black and selected becuase I had to move it out of the way to drag the new clip into it.

http://s902.photobucket.c...view&current=2.jpg

Now I go into piano roll and you can see the new percussion hits. They are the ones at the top of all the notes.

http://s902.photobucket.c...view&current=3.jpg

I then draw in more notes inside of sonars piano roll.

http://s902.photobucket.c...view&current=4.jpg

I ctrl drag and copy the midi clip I added to the layers.

http://s902.photobucket.c...view&current=5.jpg

But as you see here, whatever I drew into sonars piano roll does not get copied.

http://s902.photobucket.c...view&current=6.jpg

So I wouldnt say this was a bug, as the notes I drew inside of sonars piano roll are now part of the original midi clips that I had in the track. And can be copied and pasted if I were to do that with the original clips.

The problem is though, I do not want to copy the rest of the drum hits I already had there. And simply want to add extra percusion in different parts of the song.
This could be done simply by copy and pasting these notes inside of piano roll, or making a new midi track for that percussion and a few other methods.

I now realise why it was doing it and not sure if there is any way to do what I want it to do. Thanks for your help , I see now that it isnt really an issue and its just me trying to get it to do somthing that it isnt supposed to really.

But now I am here I may as well ask ...Is there a way to split my midi notes into seperate lanes once they are already together in one ??
Example...kick one lane

snare

hats

etc ???

Probably not huh ??

likewise. Looks fine to me, if a little overly busy with all the individual clips (some Groove Clips and some regular) not having been bounced down yet. Show layers is on, and three lanes are showing, although only the first two contain clips.

So what are we looking for here?

Edit: Oh wait. Just saw your next post.

Yes, there is a way.  Go to "Process::Run CAL..." (you need to click the grey arrows at the bottom of the meny to see it).  You could also just press Ctrl+F1 and it'll take you to the same window.

There you'll see a CAL named "Split Note to Tracks".   Use that :-)

You're still omitting "I turn off PRV mode, and I click the modified clip to select all events in it, including the ones I just entered."

A little white square appears but does not show when I post it.

This issue is evolving a little faster than I can keep up with, but...

Yes and no. You can select the new note events in PRV mode, turn off PRV mode, and paste then into a different layer. But the catch is that there has to already be a clip in that layer to past them into. The only place you can paste them as a new clip is in the same layer they came from. If there is empty space in that layer somewhere, you can past at that location (by putting your Now time there before pasting), and then drag the new clip to where you want it in the other layer, but this is really awkward way of working.

If it were me, I would use more tracks, and work in the full PRV to see multiple tracks at once in different colors with drum-mapped names, rather than in the Inline PRV, which can not distinguish between layers, and doesn't show you which note is which drum.

But, then, I'm not a copy-paste-draw-drag composer, so I'm the wrong guy to talk to.

Yeah, I appreciate the help though.
Like I say, its not really an issue just that I was experiencing somthing I hadnt before and thought somthing was wrong.
