Sonar 8.5.3 64bit not saving/restoring VST plugin settings properly

Hi

I just discovered something is not right with Sonar 64bit.

I have used Kontakt Player 4.05 64bit VST.

When loading patches into Kontakt i works just fine.

But after saving project in Sonar and then open it opens but a lot of stuff is not properly restored.
Strange settings on some things.

If to use the Save Preset for VST itself on Synth Property page I can though restore settings as they should be after loading the project.
But open every track like this and restore manually is nothing you can continue doing.

So Sonars Save/Restore mechanism is not correct!!!

Anybody experienced this?

    It works properly for me.

I use Kontakt player 4.0.5  (64 bit)  for Scarbee bases and Steven Slate Drums and I have not see this problem.

This may be stating the obvious but a lot of third party libraries only run in demo mode on Kontakt Player, could this be the problem?

    Thanks.

The demo stuff I discovered later was just for playing a while and nothing is activated when project is reloaded. So that is not the problem, since I run a full registered version of a Horn Section library.

When Sonar loads it's always as the last name of the multi.
And there are four strange alternatives on the Preset list when it's loaded. These are the same name as the first loaded instrument in the multi and the 4th is 'unknown'. The first two on this menu are checked, but the 3rd is unchecked.

If I activate the unchecked one the Kontakt stuff is reinitiated and everything is cool. Not loading all samples over again but initializing something,

To me it seems that Sonar is to blame for the strange menu of Presets.

And it also seems that something is not done when project is first loaded:

    a) Kontakt dialog showing while all samples of the loaded instruments seems ok.
    b) Then Sonar Track View is loaded and everything is there.

    c) But it does not sound right. It's like the decay envelope is veeeery long and all notes are merged together. It takes maybe 5s or so for each notes to end. When loaded properly it's just about instant.

Is there some kind of limitation on the Kontakt Player regarding this?
Can vendor of sample libraries do something wrong or might there be a NI bugin the VST 64 bit plugin?

In Sonar I'm having major problem with projects containing SampleTank also which makes me believe it's something that Sonar is not doing, like a final initialize after loading stuff or similar.

#1. Sampletank was not possible to register at all in Sonar
It just hangs when scanning plugins.

I had to install an old 32bit host nTrack to be able to register SampleTank. The popupscreen from SampleTank when first initialized blocks something and Sonar does something differently it seems.

Second, SampleTank also want to choose a default library location at first startup, where Sonar also hangs indefinately.

#2. SampleTank always hangs on load of a project in Sonar.
It does not matter if I load a new instance and then save with 64bit Sonar, next load hangs anyway.

If loading with safe mode, and omit loading ST, it loads fine.
But I have to reload a new instance of SampleTank and redirect audio and midi track to this instance. Then it runs and seems to act normal.

But still, next load of project in sonar hangs.

#3. On one project I had the same problem with Vsampler, but this never occur when loading a new instance of Vsampler and then saving project. It reloads just fine.

Maybe I should download and test 64bit Cubase and see if that as a host will do it right, if not limited to saving a project in demo mode that is.

Throw some new ideas at me if you can find the time.

    thanks.

Sometimes this sort of weird problem is a result of not running Vista (W7?) in administrator mode or having UAC turned on. Make sure UAC is turned off and you are running as Administrator.

    Thanks, I will try that.

I had immediate problems with running Dimension Pro so I always start running Sonar as admin. Always failed to load otherwise.

I don't know if there are still differences with turning off UAC also but I could try it.

    Thanks.

Now I narrowed this down to something that Sonar is responsible for.

As a test I downloaded and ran Reaper and everything works just fine.

And my problems with SampleTank 32bit bit does not exist in Reaper either. Popupscreen shown by SampleTank just comes up in Reaper, and Sonar just hangs showing nothing.

And settings for latency seems to run without a crackle in Reaper. The settings I use now sometimes give crackle when playing softsynths in realtime in Sonar.

So Cake has got plenty to work on it seems.

The only mystery with Reaper now is why Dimension pro 64bit is not found?

But I'll ask cockos forum for that.

I use Windows XP 64 bits, after finding inconsistencies in many plug-ins with Sonar 64-bit I decide to install the 32-bit version of Sonar on Windows 64 bits.
It works the same way, can overcome the barrier of 3 gb of RAM and still maintains compatibility with other software.

The people I bought sample libraries for Kontakt from also discovered
'other anomalies too' in Sonar as they put it.

I don't feel like installing 32-bit of everything now that I made the leap.

Cake will get a chance to react on this before I do anything like switching to other daw software. At least they should be able to give a timespan even if it's months until a fix or I'm gone for good.

It seems that I have similar problem, but with Sonar Proprietary SoftSynths, such as SFZ+, SI Bass, SI Drums, Dimension LE and Dimension Pro

I have this problem for two weeks, update with 8.5.2 and then 8.5.3 did not help (It's a pity I did not check in-between, whether 8.5.2 would solve the problem, just rebotted comuter).

No screen upon installation asked me what version I need, 64 or 32 bit. Can I reinstalled Sonar in 32 bit mode and how to check which version I am running

My earlier-today post on this with additional details is available here:
