Uninstall Sonar 8.5?
Hello. I installed Sonar 8.5 for the first time today. The install did not go well and the computer and audio started going funny. I uninstalled Sonar with the thought of updating the sound card driver (Mackie Onyx with firewire card, that driver is fussy and picky and needs pampering). Now I'm seeing that the Windows Install/Uninstall app. left numerous Cakewalk files on the HD.
Is there any special thing I need to do to get ALL of Sonar off my computer to in order to update audio card drivers?

Get CCleaner. It's free. Sort out your registry. Google "completely uninstalling Sonar". HTH. PS: I'm a huge fan of your early work....particularly Honky Chateau.

I use it and its a good free program. I have it on every pc i own, cause im a cheap skate!!!! Its really good for reg cleaning and system cleaning Is there any special thing I need to do to get ALL of Sonar off my computer to in order to update audio card drivers?
This confuses me. Don't worry though, it doesn't take much to confuse me. But, if i understand this correctly, you should have no problem installing or updating your sound card drivers with sonar installed or halfway uninstalled on your pc. Cj

http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ run rego cleaner.. say yes to backup re run until zero errors.. or near zero.. reboot.. as for drivers.. always attempt to install them FIRST without any hardware in.. so they get "found" after you have put the Unit in.. some things are fiddly though as for ccleaner it's donation ware , but it works uncrippled regardless if you haven't bought it.. just you get the updates earlier if you donate  ... and your supporting the UK economy by buying it (piriform are London based ) http://www.piriform.com/ their other programs are good also

Hello. Thank you. Exactly what I'm looking for. I remembered that there was at one time an app. to do just that, but I wasn't sure if it was still around, or necessary (silly me - I thought the software designers might have fixed those niggling little gotcha's by now!!!). And if memory serves, it was called Cakewalk Cleaner, or something.
A tip 'o the hat to ya!!

Hello. Wouldn't ya know it?
The Mackie firewire driver is STILL 1.1.1. They haven' updated it since it's inception!! I'm gonna reinstall anyways, because that dog is is incredibly fussy and doesn't like to be played with.
When it was working, it was pretty stable. I could (and did!!) record 16 simultaneous tracks for hours.
Hope I get to enjoy my new software soon ;)
