Janet

Scott, you're not serious about making music or anything, are you?

Now I'll just have to think of an excuse to come up to KC sometime.

Well, I'd probably just drool all over everything anyway, so maybe I shouldn't.  lol

Congrats, and way to go!  :-)

BTW Janet, I meant to respond to this!!!

You will DEFINITELY be welcome up here in KC!!  Anytime.

Hey Dave!
I'm over in north Kansas City, near 35 and north Brighton, not more than 10 minutes from Liberty!
You can message me from the studio website and if you want to cruise by that's cool!!

Didja' get your JBL's yet? I suspect you'll love 'em.

I'm running them with a Tannoy 12" sub.

Nice looking place too!

Not too far from the airport, then. I'm usually passing through there at least once a year, as I have family in central MO.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Hi,

That is indeed a massively looking studio ... and I bet it sounds just as good too ...

I wanna go there and play my spoons! I'm ready!

Cool! I might try to work out a time to swing by one evening next week. Next week we're going to try recording some drums at one of our band member's detached garage and if that doesn't work out we might be interested in renting out your space. Looks like you've got a great room for some drum recording.

Fortunately, I'm mounting on either side of the window and there are SERIOUS studs there.

Wouldn't it be better to have the monitors free-standing (on stands) as opposed to mounted on the wall?

IMHO, there is little difference between mounting on stands or on the wall.  Both have contact with surfaces, and both are going to be away from the wall.  Besides, JBL recommended these particular mounts I got, and in fact, factory drill the holes for them.

Dave,
That sounds cool!  We're still under construction, but just recorded drums tonight.  We record 12 tracks simultaneously.  I still have some duct work to cover up, but the drums are sounding good.

Just don't be surprised if I record in REAPER.  (SHOCK, AWE, GASP!)  For some reason, SONAR 8.5 is VERY cantankerous on my Win 7, 64 bit machine.  Versus continuing to wrack my brain and test my patience for the umpteen time, I'm using REAPER more and more these days.

It just works.  Same computer, same plugs, but NO stuttering, jitterbugging, latency, dropouts and PITA myriad happenings.
