Interpret what is presented, and use it

As users of softwares, it's important to realize that all of our 'wants' and 'nice to haves' are sometimes not in scope per a given release in a project.

Are we entitled to a future release because we've been loyal for years? Not really, we'll entitled to nothing more than what we purchased at the time.

I've complained and complimented Sonar/Cakewalk in the past because I feel I've paid some money and I'm entitled to my opinion - everyone is.

Software has come a long way, it's not perfect, just like the human race.

I'm glad we have such softwares to pay for and use.

Thanks, Cakewalk / Roland / Sonar!

I think that's fair enough, and certainly well said.

I think for the majority of us that that feeling slighted at the moment, and are voicing our opinions here at the Cakewalk forum, are doing so because Cakewalk has always felt like our company (in a good way) and SONAR, our product. It's always felt like some sort of small family company in which it's user base does have a voice as opposed to some big corporation putting out software as if it was a new soft drink or something. The Cakewalk employees that partake in these discussions here in the forum and who many of us are on a first name basis with, only add to that Ma & Pa shop atmosphere that keeps us loyal year after year.

So yeah, I guess I'm saying the fact that we're "complaining' is a good thing. You should take it as a compliment Cakewalk!

I agree wholeheartedly with both of you.   And I've been suggesting we lower our expectations a bit since the GUI and other updates that have been mentioned already are actually a huge undertaking for the programmers.

I make a LOT of music with Sonar - and while I have some complaints as we all do -- at the end of the day I get things done, and I'm happy.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't make our thoughts and wants known, but I think we do need to be somewhat tolerant as this upgrade looks to me a big one in many ways, even if not perfect.

    (We'll still complain anyway lol)

As a user since Cakewalk 3 (or was it 4?), I'm very satisfied with Sonar's progression over the years.  This year I dedicated myself to break out of my comfort zone and learn more about some of the newer features of Sonar and have been repeatedly blown away at everything this product does.  While I don't need everything in here, I have found numerous improvements in every release.

Very much looking forward to X1!

Well, I totally agree - my wife being the MD of a small software company. It's not a joke to get stuff to work properly. It's really a tightrope gig and you change one thing, it's testing the whole lot all over again or risk a disaster down the line. A friend of mine is chief developer for one of the biggest banks in Africa, and even THEY can't always get it right - with 100+ programmers!

And CW HAS definitely always been the most open, approachable and downright personal of all the software I have dealt with.

I am also sure that we all know users of other DAWs, and ALL the one's I know, incl PT HD users, have gripes of SOME kind or another. I was at a live TV broadcast on Saturday where the PT HD on Mac crashed so badly, they had to get another system in!

So to all (unreasonable) moaners and complainers I suggest: read through all the DAW forums and choose the DAW with the kind of quirks you can live with, then buy that one! :O)

I don't mind bugs. They are going to happen. I don't like them of course.

what I dont like is when I report a bug and it is definitely a bug and they try to act like it is my error and when I call them on it, no more contact back fromt hem. And, I was polite and sensitive tot he fact that they may not like me "trying to explain" that I know it isnt my problem...

Bug - track folder goes to bottom of list when first dragging a track into it-

Other than that, loving sonar and everything and everyone about it-

Agreed. X1 is certainly a very big positive direction for Cakewalk.

Every update they have done has been awesome.

I do love this program. I tried others. I fell in love with this one in the first 2 days of use, and it keeps getting better-
