Which WIndows 7 and questions about Powercore

Currently I run XP home but I am thinking about upgrading to Win 7, which verison should I get. Also, is anybody running Powercore Firewire with Win 7 and if so what are the results?

If it's not in the mix, it's not in the master

Are you staying with 32-bit? If so, then it probably doesn't matter since you're limited to 4GB RAM in each version.

If you're going 64-bit, then the RAM limits changes with each version. Check out the info at:

32bit. I am mainly concerned with how my current plug ins, Waves, Powercore etc will act.

I just remembered... another thing to consider is multiprocessor support. You'll need to look it up, but I believe different versions have different support for multiple CPUs and cores. The less expensive versions don't provide the support, but I'm not sure about the version specifics. I'm sure you can find the info over on the Microsoft site.

I just upgraded to Win 7 home premium x64. You won't be disappointed going 64 bit. There may be a hic-up or two getting everything worked out with your system though. I am able to run all my plugs with bitbridge (part of Sonar) and have not had to get JBridge. You may or may not need JBridge for your plugs.

As said before, It all depends on how much ram you want for your puter. Most will only be able to use 12gb since most motherboards have 6 ram slots. 4gb sticks of ram are still very expensive (Still! Why is that?) and most people can't afford them.  Home Premium's ram limit is 16gb.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

Unless you plan on having more than 16 GB of memory, Home Premium will do the job. It comes with both 32-bit and 64-bit install disks so you don't have to decide yet. I've been on 64-bit from the start and it works great. Best Windows ever.
