Okay - I'll give you that, it may be an Intel thing, 'cuz my last few boards were ASUS and I had no probs.  That being said, ASUS should come up with a fix no?  Intel?  Hey - if you see one, let us know!

Update ASUS BIOS of your Motherboard...

ASUS has a fail safe BIOS update system on all their new motherboards. It has a the original BIOS included as a mounted "hardware-chip" on the motherboard, so you can't flash and destroy the original BIOS.

Read the manual of your motherboard how to update the BIOS of your motherboard.

Okay - got the real fix.

Turns out that it's best to leave your power-plan on "BALANCED" aka recommended settings.  Yes, the weird little noises are there at boot-up and just a tad when I'm in Firefox, but VERY tolerable.  More importantly - quite fan and unnoticeable coil-noise running SONAR.

Simple solution to a weird problem.

The end.

Check this out (Optimization power scheme fix from Presonus.  Directed at Studio One users, but since the "fix" is for Vista/ Windows7, thought it might shed some light here as well):
