Sonar x3 wishlist

Now we're so close to X1 being released, and nobody other than Beta testers have actually used it yet, the feature list for X2 is already being discussed HERE I thought now would be a good time to start a thread on what would be good for Sonar X3. I'll start the ball rolling....

I'd like to see full AAR implemented. For those not in the know this is Automated Absent Recording. The program loads itself, assigns inputs and levels automatically, starts recording and then even plays the instruments or synth without anybody being present. If only X3 has that I'll be able to record all day while I'm at work.

If it's going to speed things up for me as a hobbyist, imagine what it'll do for all the pros, you could all go on holiday for months at a time while still recording bands, all they have to do is turn up and play.

Of course we'd still have to mix it manually but I'm thinking that in X4 we could have AAM, yep you've guessed it - Automated Absent Mixing, but I'll leave that for another thread next week.

Please bakers, please, pretty please......................

    I don't wish for much...

X3 Microchip that is embedded in the brain, completely integrated into the brain which uses thought processes (workflow) thereby NO need for control surfaces, k/board or mouse.  Just 'think' about it.

I think SongCraft has a good idea.  I'd like something a little different, however.  I'd like for X3 to replace my brain.  Let's face it, at this point, I am the weak link in the chain.  With a shiny new X3 brain, I'd eliminate the problem.

    Can't wait for December, 2012.

I would like them to finally implement the TALENT plugin.

Tone Art Libation for Every No - Talent

It needs to be very versatile for any type of instrument including vocals and drums.  got a bad guitar riff?  just insert the T.A.L.E.N.T. plugin on the FX bin and voila'!  instant star!

poor vocals?  just add T.A.L.E.N.T.  BAM!

Interesting idea, Beagle.  Of course, you've examined this from the standpoint of attempting to improve the music itself.  While that's a "nice-to-have" kind of goal, everyone knows that real stardom has absolutely nothing to do with quality of any kind.

Comprehensive Elephant Lubrication Everywhere Buttering Rodents Initially Tickled Yellow  - Redundant Explosive Hubris Abounds, Beware! is a new .vst that is based upon a time-tested process for transforming the talentless, worthless, and brainless into overnight stars!

Warning, Roland is not responsible for any undesirable side (chaining) effects due to the use of this plug in.

Well, if X1 Changes Everything does that mean that X3 will revert everything back?

    Bummer.

I wish they would remove the Automatic Sucks Session feature embedded in the recording section....

I'm hoping the replace the Most Obnoxious Outbursts of Convoluted Harmoinics VSTi with the Brighten All Plugs Utility app.

We need a capability to introduce a keyswtich track in an intrument track dedicated to modify the sounds of virtual instruments (or real). It could be associated to a small map in order to link a keyswitch which his signification with the possiblity to store it. Exemple : C0 is Legato, C1 is spicccato ...With this feature, it could be easy to edit midi track in piano roll view separating real notes for sounds and KS for "expression" control. We need a better link between Sonar and Wave's editor and Score's editor (XML is not relevant). Performing more Midi effects (as "liquid notes" for exemple) Upgrading the audio engine (up to now, the sound is better for a plug-in in a stand alone configuration than in a plug-in configuration in Sonar) Reducing some bugs (mainly in score edit view) To review the score edit view (now we only have one score at the top...) Reintroducing a small floating window for mains commands of "transport" (as in previous versions) Capability to modify all colors When we want to refuse a record (a bad one): the capabilty to cancel it and to come back at the right cursor position using only one key (or one click) = a "record cancel button"

keyswitching is a function of the virtual instrument.  putting a keyswitch on the midi track doesn't make sense because the map for the keyswitch is not necessarily the same for each VSTi.

the Control Bar can be customized with whatever controls you want on it and can be floated.  so it is already available as a "floating transport"

I agree with the color mods request and the upgrade of the Staff/Notation views.

I suggest you stop using Firefox browser for this forum, or figure out how to hard code the carriage returns.  I have a hard time reading your paragraph that's not broken up into separate ideas and when people do that, I tend to not read it.  Just a suggestion.
