geeare1 Truckermusic: Hi, Cliff. Sorry the horns aren't doin' it for you I wouldn't be to hard on NI though. I suspect much of the problem lies in my lack of horn dynamic/articulation knowledge. Anyway, for $29 I wasn't really expecting miracles and, overall, they're a step up from the Gen Midi patches I've been playing around with. I appreciate the listen and comments and I'm glad you liked some aspects of the tune, though. Thanks. Well I'm not really down on NI.....cause as I said.....I've been collecting them lately....I do like NI... Especially Kore 2....I really like that VST....I find I go to that well a lot!!!! ...Is this the Horn expansoin pack they have out for Kore 2?.....Cause I was wondering how they sounded...... but brass is really hard.....really hard and for the most part you really have done good it just shows up in some spots.....that's all.......... but the composition I really do like!.. It is fun, and up tempo and groovin...so there is a lot to like here! ?

Gary I still think this is a killer tune! and yes your horns sound better......I still think that they can go just a little more yet and you'd be there......but I hear an improvement even on cheap PC Speakers... Clifford

Yea, I think it is...I'm not real familiar with NI stuff but I got a $30 discount coupon ( because Sonar 8.5 comes with Guitar Rig ) so I bought the horns and downloaded the player. Kore IS pretty cool...still working on those horn parts, tho. Thanks. gdugan: Hi Gary, thanks very much for listening and for your kind words. timidi: No prob, Tim

Gary, Of course you knew you had my attention right out of the gate. Congas and bongos and Latin rhythms. Oh yea. The trumpets at the begining are so just right. Killer guitar riffs. Where have you been hiding this side of you? Damn fine guitar!!! No doubt about it... this is smoking hot! This might be my favorite thing I've heard you do. The whole package is really quite sweet. Impressive musicanship. The horns work very well for me! And did I mention how good the guitar is? Feelin' HOT HOT HOT! Daryl

I'm speechless (very unusual for me)! You had me dancing from the first note (and at my age that is not a sight for the faint-hearted)! People far more able than I have already commented on the technical side. Let me just say that the composition itself is perfect. You really understand how the instruments should combine and what they should play. I doff my cap and call you Maestro. Best Regards Malcolm

Thanks again, man. malcolmb: Hi Malcolm. Thanks for listening and taking the time to leave a comment. You had me dancing from the first note (and at my age that is not a sight for the faint-hearted)! haha...you and me both! I really appreciate the kind words...thanks again.

Very nice, Gary. I missed the earlier version, but this is tight, and I like the movement and little mood changes thrown in. Guitar tone is sweet, and I like the action on the horns. Yeah, It had me boppin' around.

This was an unexpected listen Gary. I'm so used to your acoustic songs, but, this was just over the top in a really good way! Those guitar licks mid-way thru are some of the best I've heard from you. Seriously, great production and playing and turned my head around. Larry

ah yea....not sure how I missed this one first time round...cool tune..love the horns!! this is a great peice of work you've got here..love the guitar vamps... here's one lil nit of a pic....at :30 and :32 the horns come in and "bomp-bomp" (does that twice) they see just a wee bit rushed there..a lil bit o nudging will fix that in a jiffy! (maybe they just need a wee bit more space between bomp--bomp) whatever it is its really such a lil thang it dont add up to much...just thought I'd share what I'm hearing/feeling.. I really do love this tune..and its an A++ to be sure!...cool stuff!!

Slow Marching Band: Hi Larry. Thanks for stopping by! I'm so used to your acoustic songs Yea, I don't play anything but my acoustics at home so everything I do starts out as an acoustic song...in fact I have a kind of sad/embarrassing attempt at this tune using an acoustic guitar and a dobro Sometimes I just have to find a better way, though. Thanks very much for taking the time to leave a message, I'm glad you liked it! the pogue: Hi Tom. Thank you for listening and taking to time to comment. You're absolutely right about the timing on the 'bomp-bomp's'. I've been trying to convince myself that it gives the tune more of a 'live' feel, haha! But, you've shamed me into fixing it It still feels a little rushed to me but I think it's better than it was. Thanks again for listening/commenting, for your kind words and for the kick in the a$$.

Wow! Excellent in all areas. The only thing I felt was slightly out of place at time is the bass. I was reading how jimmyman already prescribed a cure for you and you've already done it. I didn't hear the original one but I know how important bass is in a mix. As they say, bass kills. So apparently the bass frix fixed the mixed. The bass tone is nice and warm but at times it's a little too over the mix imho. Maybe some compression or even manually bringing those parts down if you don't like compression. Great job overall!

Just had another listen - only on the lappy, but this still sounds very very good. Horns do sound better. I wouldn't say they sound 100% real, but they're close enough and the whole thing is way above my level of competence so that's only nitpicking anyway. Now, where did I put sunglasses...?

I've been so busy writing that I haven't had a lot of time to listen to other's music..... trying to catch up a bit. OK... this is pretty cool. Very well done, and it shows that you took considerable time putting this together. I enjoy some Latin flavored stuff from time to time.... I like Bossa's with a touch of jazz.... this was very "island sounding" My only crits were in the horns. As others have stated, it is not easy to take a straight up horn sample and pop it in and have it sound real. When they first hit, it sounds believable, but as the notes are held the "synthyness" begins to show. Volume and velocity variations are one way to make the notes sound realistic. Not an easy task to accomplish. I think NI has good samples but they are straight up and it's up to you to variate them. I'm wondering if other "horn packages" have these variations "built in" to make them sound better right out of the box..... just thinking out loud..... Either way.... this is one fantastic song.... WELL DONE!

opensky: Hi Steve. Thanks for listening and commenting. I'm a fan of your music and am really glad you liked the tune. I have tremendous respect for your abilities and will re-visit the bass volume. Thanks again! paulo: Hi Paulo. Thanks for checking it out again. Your sunglasses are right where you left them Guitarhacker: Hey, Herb. Thanks for stopping by! Glad you liked the song. As for the horns...I agree with you about the longer notes. Volume and velocity can help but I think a big part of the solution ( if there is one ) is for me to use the techniques that work ( shorter 'hits', etc. ) and avoid or minimize those that don't. That'll have wait 'til the next time, tho...Thanks again.
