Getting Sound Forge back in the tools / utilities menu?

How do I do this now?  Used to use Sonar Utils to set it up.

Thanks

    Thanks Scott.

    Sonar Utils was so easy to do.  Shame it is gone.

    You can find that at DigiFreq too, but not sure if it still works with the current version...

    Why didn't I have to do anything to have Forge show up under Utilities?  It was just there, as in 8.5.  Because I'd already set it up several Sonars back?  But I assume you had it going in 8.5 also, Space Cowboy?  - I'm just curious what the deal is, since my experience with this isn't the same.

    Sound Forge is in my utilities menu.  It just doesn't work.  This is a feature I've used for years, so I know how to do it, it just doesn't function anymore.

    Hmmmm, what's going on?  After seeing Space Cowboy's post earlier, I checked again to see how it's working for me - Not only is Forge still there under Utilities, but it's working the same as before.  I didn't do anything to set it up.  There has to be more to it than just me being lucky.  - ?

    Back in Sonar 7 - Sonar added Sound Forge Pro 9.0 automatically for me into the utilities dropdown.  Then one day it was on the list but was in a faded, non-functional capability.

    Then when I upgraded to 8.5, I installed the 64 bit version of Sonar - and SoundForge Pro 10.0 failed to appear at all.  I have presumed that this is because SoundForge is a 32 bit application?  Of course SoundForge works fine in standalone mode.  I really depend upon SoundForge for detailed manipulation of sounds - and I would love to have that capability back again where I can directly edit wav files straight out of Sonar.

    Am I wrong?  Can I get SoundForge Pro 10 back on my 64 bit version of X1a Utilities Menu???

    Nope, it's not in my utilities menu...not sure it was in 8.5.3 either...was in 7 and I think 8.  I also used to use Bruce's Sonar Utils but don't think it works anymore...or even if I still have it.  Agree that there should be an easy way (maybe a line in the utilities menu like...add new tool).  I tried to read the registry article over at Scott's and while certainly doable...it made my brow knit and my headbone dizzy after about 4 sentences.  Shoot.

    Well dang.  I guess the best bet as to why Forge showed up automatically for me is that I'm using 32 bit X1 - maybe?  All I know is that it was just there under Utilities, as it's been in every Sonar I've had.

    I figured it was do to the 32 to 64 bit incompatibility as well, but I would like to know for sure though.  And if there is a workaround to get them to communicate I would definitely like to know.

    SoundForge also has a large series of 32 bit VST effects processing tools which are dang good!! I used to be able to use those alongside my Sonitus effects inside Sonar, but alas that is gone as well.

    Do the 32 bit Sonar X1 users get access to those SoundForge Sony effects in Sonar the same as SoundForge itself?

    It remains faded (ghosted) until you select the clip that you want to edit from the SONAR time line.

    I just checked my SONAR X1a install and I have both Sound Forge 9 & 10 installs (Sound Forge & Sound Forge Pro respectively) showing up in the X1 "Tools" menu, just like they show up in SONAR 8.5.3. I did not have to manually anything. Although, I do remember after the X1 install being asked if I wanted my migrate "preferences" (I guess from SONAR 8.5.3) to X1. I clicked "OK", so I am not sure if that had anything to do with it.

    Hi

    I just installed W7 x64 onto fresh HDD followed by Sonar X1a and Soundforge. Followed Scott's great instructions and bang, Sondforge now in tools menu, easy as pie.

    Thanks Scott!

    I ran in to this back in SPE 8.0, and SPE8.5. Sonar Util's didn't work for me, but I did find another solution.

    See Here.

    Bump.
    I found this thread and am experiencing the same issues - BUT -

    Sound Forge 10 Pro and iZotope's RX 2 Advanced both "automatically" appeared in the Utilities drop-down menu when upgrading from Sonar 8.5.3 PE to Sonar X1 PE on Vista Ultimate x64.

    Even though both Sound Forge and RX are 32-bit, they handled the file transfers from within Sonar just fine.

    I just upgraded to Win 7 Pro, and re-installed Sonar X1 PE x64, followed Scott's DigiFreq instructions for adding programs to the Utilities (formerly Tools) menu, and the two are both shown in the Utilities drop down.

    HOWEVER - when selecting a track and then selecting RX, the activity bar shows the file transfer taking place, but then Sonar pops up an error window stating "Cannot Create Process".

    Has anyone found a solution or work-around for this?

    Thanks for any and all replies.

    Cheers,
    MG

    I take no responsibility for anybody playing with their registry - but you just need to make a .reg file with something like this in it - then double click on the reg file and it will be added to your registry. Even if it's wrong it will be added - so you really should go into regedit and make sure everything looks right.

    If you're comfortable with that - paste this into a reg file and amens so that it's right for your paths etc:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\Audition]
    "ExePath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Adobe Audition 3.0\\Audition.exe"
    "HelpFilePath"=""
    "MenuText"="Adobe Audition"
    "StatusBarText"="Launch Audition"
    "Type"="WaveEditor"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\Line 6 Edit]
    "ExePath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Line6\\Line 6 Edit\\Line 6 Edit.exe"
    "HelpFilePath"=""
    "MenuText"="Line 6 Edit"
    "StatusBarText"="Launch Line 6 Edit"
    "Type"="Generic"

    FOUND IT!!

    Note to self (and anyone else getting the "Cannot Create Process" error) -

    IF you copy and paste the EXE path from an icon on your desktop -
    be sure to REMOVE THE QUOTATIONS!

    ExePath = "C:\Program Files (x86)\SoftwareX\Sony\SoundForge.exe"
    will yield the error.

    ExePath = C:\Program Files (x86)\SoftwareX\Sony\SoundForge.exe
    works!

    Make sure the path is correct, and do not use quotations!

    Thank you one and all for helping to hash this one out!
