Wow. No one is denigrating X1. Keni made a very legitimate request for a change in X1 to get back some of the lost functionality. You started a thread a while back asking what was actually lost in X1. Well this is a very good example of it. Cakewalk could have built on the old functionality and added the Edit Filter. Instead they removed the old functionality and replaced it by something that in many ways is less efficient and less powerful. These posts and threads are perfectly understandable if you are willing to see what people are saying. You could even benefit from the improvements suggested if they ever get implemented. Instead you are hell bent on dismissing anything that can be perceived as criticism of a product you own. Very strange... UnderTow
Again you miss the point. I also found a true feature in past Sonars that is no longer in X1. I made a tread(it was about the lost pattern brush), about it. I have no problem with finding bugs, missing features and the like. I do find some postings are nothing more then bashing. If you can not see that so be it. I do.

Keni, I agree with you on this.  I said early on that I thought X1 took away some workflow that they had in earlier versions.  Though X1 is working well for me now, and I've learned my way around it, I would like to have some features from earlier versions back.  You have pointed out one feature that I use a lot, and I hope that CW listens to you.  BTW, don't let certain users get under your skin.  I'm sure that many posts could produce several CDs from you or me if that time was spent in the studio.

All the best,
Lynn

Keni,

You can shift click any automation to select it. You don't have to use the edit filter. Hold shift and select the automatition you want to edit and it becomes the main focus. X1 will even change it in the edit filter for you. You can also select the clip this way. So you never need to use the edit filter if you don't want to.

Thanks A1...

I know this but it still makes it that much more work than it previously was... If it only happened once in a while it wouldn't be an issue, but as often as it must be used that extra click gets very annoying...

You're always using the filter even if you don't use the drop down... Previously there was no filter and all targets were immediatey available for editing... It's that simple...

If you don't want to see the edit filter you can turn it off in the Track Control Manager. I know that's not what you want though.

Keni not every post I make is aimed at you. Sorry to disappoint.

I can tell by the sheer number of your posts that I'm not the only one...

I'm not disappointed... More relieved! ;-)

Please don't take my words in a bad way... they're not aimed at you...

I'm just tired of arguing about things that are beside the issue... I'm sorry if my words don't communicate with you well... But it seems many others have no problem understanding me... I'm also glad that you're happy with what you get... Maybe Next release they won't have to give you anything as this one is already perfect?

I don't put down Sonar... or Cakewalk at all... But I do let them know when I disagree with a decision they've made that hurts me or (in my belief) their' product... and this is one of them... Whatever name you wish to put on it... This needs fixing.

UnderTow has put it very succinctly... It was working great for many of us and now it's not... and it's not a matter of learning the new release or getting used to it...

If it weren't for people who voice their concerns, you'd be without many of the things you do like that are added over the years... They happen because others add more viewpoints that they might not have realized (or some such)...

So Please... Do yourself and all of us a favor... I believe you have answered some of my posts in the past... and if it was helpful to me (I don't recall), I appreciate it very much... But your current battle is one that is not being constructive as you believe it is...

If you've got an issue about Sonar, or something you'd like to rave about... or something that will help others... That's good... if you plan on warping all topics to your need for absolute purity of expression then I believe you will be fighting forever!

Meanwhile, my clients have just returned, so I'm back to work (in 8.5.3) as that's what I do...

X1? Sure... in time when they fix things as they always do!

Long Live The Bakers!!!

;-)

Again you miss the point.
No John, you miss the point: You are completely off-topic. You are disrupting this thread which makes you as bad as the bashers. If you want to moan about them, start a thread about it so that the people that actually want to improve Sonar can safely ignore it.

Thanks Lynn...

I too can work with X1, but some things have been either left out, overlooked, or changed in uncomfortable ways for many of us. Cakewalk is a very responsive company and I know they see these posts and issues and will do their' best to make adjustments as time allows. the more important ones I feel I must make known my belief in the severity of the issue and the only methods I have to do this are the Feature Request option and speaking often about it in the forum... hopefully gaining support from others who agree.

Sometimes someone comes up with info I didn't know and allows me to drop an issue, but all too often I get people (with good intentions) who think that it's because I haven't figured out the 'new "how"'... I do my best to explain but I'm not always successful...

Thanks... that's good to know, but it doesn't get the procedural discomfort corrected...
