Gotta love it.... still amazes me how carried away forums can get... like slow chugging steam trains that just build momentum when the fuel of paranoia starts feeding the boiler. Thanks Cake folk.... once again for some rational input.

And also, I am happy Cake decided to make OctaCapture a device that can chain and run alongside The VS-700... I think creating units that can chain to the VS-700 for new and added functionality is a great idea...

Yes you're absolutely right. Those are great ideas!

I apology for those who think I went too far.

But badly, if I had said that in fact I'm very happy with the system anyway, my concern wouldn't have been answered (I know! I tried!).

So sorry if I had to be that negative a generous and detailled answer finally came out.  Thanks a lot for that Samara.

I thought it was important to have these points out of the way. For me at least.

Now I'm ready to enjoy this wonderful piece of gear for years to come!

Thank you cakewalk and The low latency is amazing with the Octa and the VS-700 together!  It works just liked I hoped it would.

Keep up the great work!

That is great Laney.
I have been waiting for someone to speak up that has the VS-700 and Octa-Capture.
I will be purchasing both very soon.

HI
Laney : "Thank you cakewalk and The low latency is amazing with the Octa and the VS-700 together"

Just wondering if latency is lower with the Octa rather than with VS 700 R, or do they have exactly the same performance ?

Ha ha!  You're absolutely right! I've become paranoiac because I bought a Roland RD700sx just before Roland introduced the GX and a Focusrite liquid 4pre just before they discontinued it....  My lack of "vision" was evident and let's say I was a little anxious about the vs...  The tought of spending 10K on 3 new legacy products was hunting me to say the least! And as you said, thans again Cake for the rational input!

Don't worry, I've still got a Fostex VM in the shed.

...err, plus an Athlon 2600, DX4, Amiga bits... stopping now.

ASUS H270, i7-7700, JLM BA & 1290, LA2A Opto4, loads of guff.

Samara Krugman

I am the Product Manager for the VS-700 and I have been part of the team working on the VS-700 for the last three years and will continue to work on the VS-700 for the foreseeable future.

I would like to make this perfectly clear -

VS-700 development is not ending anytime soon.
The VS-700 is not being discontinued anytime soon.

Regarding FantomVS x64 - this is an incredibly complicated issue and we are actively trying to find a viable and sustainable solution. We have no schedule as to when we will have a more permanent solution however we are exploring options. That is sincerely all the information we have right now, and that will have to suffice. As soon as we have more information we will post it on the forum.

I would also like to add a vote for getting use of the FantomVS x64 fixed. The VS700 product has been out for a long time without the FantomVS working properly with Sonar x64.
