OK, this is my thread, so I'm gonna hi-jack it.  Today I think I finished cutting all the wood lying around our 5 acre place into firewood.  I don't even know how long we've been working at it, but I did the bulk of it this winter.  (today it was 74 degrees outside and I was reminded why I do NOT want to do this in the summer!)  Anyway, I think we almost have what we'll need for next winter (I was aiming for about 3 1/2 cords, or 400 cubic feet, since that's what they've burned this year (so far.))  I should take pictures of the piles just to prove it.  lol

Now to wait for some dry weather so we can somehow get back in the woods to pick it up!

Now, how to celebrate....

Oh, and while we're talking about keeping weight off....cutting and hauling firewood seems to work well too.  lol

Waiting to hear the new piece Janet. I've listened to your other work and I like it.

And on a weather related note, we planted corn in the garden today, it's supposed to hit 76 here by Sunday.
Not trying to rub it in of course.

Thank you! :-)

You planted corn today? Oh my.  I should move south.

I certainly thought about planting something.  But I checked the last average frost date and it's not until April 15th.  :(

Oh, don't worry about the forest here.  90% of what I cut had been lying on the ground littering up the place.  From now on we'll only have to cut what we need to keep the house warm.  I think the forest will easily be able to keep up. :-)

Cool.  If you'd like it cleaned up though, call someone else.  I'm tired.

And on a weather related note, we planted corn in the garden today, it's supposed to hit 76 here by Sunday.
Not trying to rub it in of course.

*sigh* I am jealous... up here, we don't dare plant gardens much before May 15, late-season snow blasts aren't unheard of.

My wife has family around Brandon MS - pretty country, and very pleasant to visit this time of year!

We'll it's not unheard of to have a last gasp of winter push down this far even now but it's been so nice here for the last few days we decided to take a chance and go ahead and at least start planting part of the garden. Planting in stages makes it easier to harvest when it starts coming in because it won't all be ready to harvest at the same time which is a mistake we made once.

We are about 2 1/2 hours further southeast of Brandon. I know exactly where your talking about. I took many trips there to go to Band Contest while in High School Band playing Trumpet.
We've lived in Nashville TN. for several years before moving back home about 3 years ago. Nashville was always right on the edge of the Snow/Rain line which was a mixed blessing. I love the beauty of the snow but the drivers in Nashville lose all common sense about driving if there is even a flake of snow in the air.
