This has great 70s Brit feel to me. Sounds good on Bose speakers. This would pack the dance floor. Cool guitar work as always! No real crits from me. Daryl

Bass still too weak. I wouldn't HPF the bass up to 80hz, though: that kills all the bass's low bottom power, and then kinda makes the whole tune too thin, especially since the kick is kinda clicky and not too deep either. Have you ever tried enveloping the guitar eq? For example, leave any HPF off until the bass comes in, and then HPF around 150hz and a low shelf -6db at 180hz. That makes the gutiars sound super phat and then the bass can come in and take up its own space down low. +1 I need more bass!! Other than that I like it...Prefer the kick on "Endless Night"...But that is just my opinion.

EDIT: 3/6/11 Hopefully final remix for this one! I added a little of the "thump" back into the kick drum, re-eqed the bass guitar and raised the bass up another 1.5 dB. I'm hoping this will be a happy medium that translates pretty well on most systems. Does the bass seem easier to hear now? Thanks again, everyone, for all your input and advice, the folks on this forum are truly amazing! Bob

marcos69: Hey, Mark, Thanks for checking this one out for me, and for your and comments and good advice! As per your suggestion, I revisited the eq on the bass guitar, and made a few adjustments, and then raised it by about 1.5 dB. I also put back a little of the thump that I had taken out of the kick drum. I'm hoping these adjustments added back some of the bottom end feel into the mix, without muddying up everything. Thanks again for your input and suggestions, and I'm also happy to hear that your back is improving after your recent surgery. Have a good one, buddy! Bob ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- shawn @ trustmedia: Hey Shawn, Thanks or trying to check it out, sorry that you couldn't get to hear the song. Maybe you were having ISP connection trouble at the time, or possibly SoundClick was acting up, as unfortunately happens sometimes. Anyway, thanks for trying, I really appreciate it. Have a good one! You know, the guitar drops out completely at 13 seconds, and it actually feels unnatural? Listening again on the proline 650s, I love this tune, the bass? I wouldn't be afraid to kick it in the ass again! :-) (not much mind you, this is pretty close IMO) And right at 20 seconds left? You might want to grab that cymbal?

Sounds pretty damm good to me. Listened on both my Mackie HR 824's and Yamaha SP115 loud speakers. The only other thing I would say is the song ends kind of funny. Sorry I didn't notice it last time. Instead of bringing the drums back in for like 5 secs at the end, I would just fade out with the guitar. Other than that though, love the track. Good job.

Hey Bob, the bass level sounds good and bringing up the kick really helps. The problem though is that the bass has low end but no definition. Find some real crappy computer speakers and listen there and you'll hear what I mean. You need to eq in some mid-end body to the bass. If you'd like you could send me some tracks and I could take a crack at it.

I agree with Robby on the dropping out of the guitar, but that's a small thing compared to how BIG this song and mix is. Great playing too, Bob!

acoustigod: Hi, Ken, It's great to see you back on the forum! Thanks very much for giving this a listen, and for your well thought out suggestions and observations. Yeah, it seems that the bass is the main bone of contention on this song, with some people not being able to hear it at all, others saying it's too loud, and others thinking it's just right. So, I guess with this latest mix, I'm shooting for a happy medium on the bass. I am also going to take your advice and rethink and experiment with the overall limiting a bit to see how it sounds. Thanks again for your input, I appreciate it! Bob --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- darylcrowley: Hey, Daryl, how are things? Great, I hope! Thanks for checking this remix out for me, and for your very kind words, I really appreciate your observations and encouraging comments! Have a good one, Daryl! Bob

Tap: Hey, James, How's my fellow Pennsylvanian doing? I see it looks like you've moved a bit further up North! Thank you for checking out the latest mix of "Face the Fire", and also for your very nice compliment! I've always been a big fan of the James Gang, also Joe Walsh's solo work, and of course later with the Eagles. I really appreciate you giving this a listen and commenting. Have a good one, my friend! You know that I could never resist slipping in some Boston style stuff into the solos somewhere! Thank you for checking it out, I always look forward to and greatly appreciate your input. MAN! I was sittin' here checking my old Boston cd's to see if this was a tune they should have included but forgot! MASSIVE sound. Everybody else is qualified to comment on the technical aspects, all I can say is the overall effect was planetary! Good job! Maranatha

patm300e: Hi, Pat, Thank you, sir, for checking this out for me, and for your input and observations! I'm hoping with this latest mix that the bass is more in the ballpark, and that you can hear it better. Yep, I used a different, "crackier" sounding drum kit on "Endless Night" because there were a lot of lower range elements, so I thought that particular drum kit fit better with the mix for that song. Thanks again for giving this a listen, I truly value your opinion. Have a great night! Bob

Bob, This rocks .... I liked it alot. The bass didn't quite do it for me. The bass wasn't "big enough " to measure up to the rest of the song. Loved the guitar tone and the drums are fat. nice licks on the leads.... the bass seemed kinda small next to them. This could just be a personal preference. I didn't like the beginning or the ending. the 100% panning to one channel was weird...and since when does a rocker like this fade out? Maybe it's not done..... I like what you have there.... This could easily be an AC/DC tune. I didn't wade through all the previous posts.... so forgive me if I repeat......

Listenin' to it now. Nice guitar tone. Nice transitions from verse to chorus. Guitar solo has a real "Fastway" feel to it (if you remember them). LOVE the guitar lines under the chorus just past the solo. Wanted a longer outro though, insane screaming or something. I enjoyed listening to this one. Al
