I'm really curious to read the original post now...

I can see how people are offended just looking at the title and I can also see Rick's point. Ram prices may go up.

so the OP was complaining about the price ofa couple sticks of ram, and then counters with an attempted purchase of a couple thousand dollar plane ticket? this thread is weird.

Are you fuc**ng people deaf or something? I never once COMPLAINED about the price of anything. I merely stated that ram prices are going up so BUY NOW before it gets really expensive. What the hell is so hard to understand. Jesus this place sucks ass.

Nobody is deaf. I asked a question because....... you deleted your post. I guess you can go ahead and delete your account now too.

Panic buying for panic times is not really going to help in that case either..all it'll do is cause the prices to go up that much faster than you can shake a stick at...

Besides, most of the processes have been outsourced anyways....

NPR had an interview with one of the few known survivors from one of the fishing communities that was overwhelmed  by the tsunami surge.

The person, described as an old villager, said something very wise.

"Those of us who ran the fastest survived"

It's a real tragidy the things transpiring in Japan..... and it's likely to get worse now with 2 reactors close to a level 6 or 7 event,  a Chernobyl style melt down.

Rick, I can see your point and I can see the other side. The news is carrying stories of electronics shortages and price hikes. The laws of supply and demand are at work. So, if you're planning a computer upgrade it would be wise to hit the store now to buy your parts.

On a different note....It is commendable that you want to go there to help. However, if you do not have the experience needed, you would simply be in the way and part of the problem and likely hinder the real rescue work from getting done. Since you were willing to pay your own way... airfare to Japan isn't cheap, why not donate that equivalent ticket price in dollars to the International Red Cross? They can use the money to really help the folks on the ground in Japan with food, water, shelter, and the other necessities of life that they have lost as a result of this tragedy.

Once they get the reactors secured, and the other pressing issues handled..... I'm sure there will be many US based groups with churches and others that will be headed there to do the humanitarian work in helping the people rebuild their lives. Perhaps you can be involved in that sort of a mission to the Japanese people.

What's one more shortage...they've been having shortages of one sort or another for years...I  remember when there used to be stockpiles of parts and such for a lot of different things...but then it got to be too much money to warehouse various parts and now we do JIT...

I've seen a lot worse comments thrown around here and nobody said a word.

Why are you guys so upset about this?

Bub, I know you have complained a lot about the lack of moderation on some threads and I know you have good reason to complain about some of the things that have been said without anyone doing anything about it.  but just because things haven't been done when they should have for you doesn't mean I'm not going to say anything about someone clearly violating the TOS.  you can feel free to say what you want as well.  I am "upset" with his language in the forum and I have a right to say so.

Hi Beagle,

I wasn't really thinking of myself, but everything I've read here lately as a whole. Here being in the X1 and Song forums, not the CH.

I have a new rule I'm trying to go by, if I read something that offends me and it's clearly a TOS violation, I say nothing and just report it. It's not worth getting in to it anymore because you never know what kind of whack job you are dealing with and it's not worth the risk.

sounds like a good plan.  but I typically say something to them first, then report them.  it's just a matter of preference.

bit , I'm sure a certain country you visit has been hit with such problems also (and it's not a rich country) and because you visit there you have more an affinity with there. you posted yourself you were worried about there in recent days, if I'm not mistaken. So I find it odd you take such a stance.

Not odd, really, Fog. I have tremendous compassion for those who have endured a horror of such magnitude that you and I cannot even imagine it. It gives me nightmares. Literally. Noting that there will also be economic repercussions doesn't change that.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
