Hi sorry i could't get back sooner, i have checked the task manager, by reading a bit on how to optimize windows i did a lot of what it read web sites (diableing my internal sound card, closeing progams at start, disconnecting my wifi.......)my laptop seams to go faster, if i go to task manager with nothing els running on my laptop at the performace tab i see CPU usage at about 5% MAX memory is at 950Mb MAX and used pysical memory is 26%. When i open sonar the CPU usage is at about 55% memory is 990MB and used pysical memmory is at 27%. I could now do my mix without the snap crackel pops but i still have to freez some tracks but not as much as before.. I gess i will have to live with it i think maybe it's windows vista that takes a lot of memory. i'm thinking on going to windows 7 you think if that is a good idea? i'm also thinking on getting sonar X1 producer if i do, do you think it will do the same snap crackle pops or more if i keep vista. Thank you very much for your time and support.

Beagle check your task manager and see what other programs are running. this is really the only suggestions I have for you. stop programs one by one in the task manager until the dpc latency reduces. you shouldn't see spikes above 500usecs for smooth use. don't disable any programs by "system" or you'll likley crash the OS.

are you having the EXACT problem as the OP? or is the popping and clicking only when you're playing back a projet in SHS? that's a big difference.

are you having the EXACT problem as the OP? tonysmusic: this is not the same problem as the original post. You should start a new thread if you expect other people to address the problems you are having instead of someone elses (the OPs) issue.

right - that's not the exact same problem. popping and clicking when you're playing softsynths is due to latency. in your updated signature you say "audio device" - that's not descriptive enough to help you. is that your onboard soundcard, or a USB soundcard or something else? make and model number, please?
