Katie_Katie I have two. The top one I use on him. The bottom one he still trying to figure out.
On the bottom one I find it's best to only turn one knob at a time (very gently). More than one and it's "Danger Will Robinson" time. Come to think of it, even one is "Danger Will Robinson" time. But for the love of all that is good I will not disable that plug.

Besides, attempting to remove it is likely to cause all go crash in the loudspeaker.

UbiquitousBubba Besides, attempting to remove it is likely to cause all go crash in the loudspeaker. Not to mention it normally has deep ties to all of your other assets. Removal almost always results in you having half of what you did (and often less)

I have far too many free VST's. When my new PC arrives, I'm only going to reinstall/scan anything I paid for, and just a few of the truly exceptional free ones.

+1 to culling the herd of free vsts. They multiply like insects and make it nearly impossible to find that one you wanted that had that great sound, but you just can't remember what it was called. Then I have to go download them all over again.

space_cowboy Thanks DD. I need a 12 step program. I already have a 12 Tone Program (for u noobies, that was the original name of Cakewalk - the 12 step program). I think my issue has become one of maximizing the fun out of a minimal amount of time. Or I am a junkie. You need the studer plug for UAD2. It is some awe. That one I have....some things I can't live without....that Studer is one, the other is that multi-band limiter from Precision. I've never used a MBL quite like it. And then there's...ah heck, you know....I can go on and on. LOL! Nah, I say it's maxing the fun for you and not being a junkie at all. Can I make a suggestion? You do good work from the music I've heard so you don't need my advice....but... On your next project...or even if you do a little test project, make up your mind that you are going to use plugs you never used before and log your results. I do what I call "studio lab work" at least once per week in my spare time where I'll record about a minute or 2 of something and just experiment with new techniques, new plugs etc. It really works out well if you try it. You learn something from each little endeavor and you also get a chance to use all new stuff each time which makes things a bit more fresh. Plus you get to tap into that mighty arsenal you have going on and find out what works and what may have been "hype". Give it a shot sometime...it's pretty fun and a bit challenging to use new stuff instead of our normal "go to" plugs. :)

I just collect plugins. That is sort of a joke but sort of not. I use many (though not all) of my UAD plugs on pretty much everything. I love the precision limiter and the precision bus compressor (more so than the recreation of the SSL stuff). I use the three reverbs a lot. I love the studer. I use the neve 88s as my go to channel strip. I could not live without my PSP Nitro and I am learning my N02. It is a great FSU. I use Camel's Alchemy a bunch. I also love the Waldorf PPG thing whatever the latest version is. And Lounge Lizard. I am in awe at some of the other AAS plugs I have but little experience with the others. I love the String Synth thing from G Media, it gets a ton of use. The funny thing is that I am mainly a guitar/bass player. And I don't know if you know, but I have a big collection of real synths - Waldorf wave (the big one) Memorymoog +, a Modcan modular, a Synthi AKS, Oberheim Xpander and a 4 voice (that is huge) and a Prophet 5/10/vs and a Elka Synthex... and a 2600 with the Moog Ladder filter and the duophonic keyboard and the sequencer and the little brother expander...and a Roland MKS 80 with the programmer...and other things I cannot even recall right now. Those and my guitars (45) and my amps (15?) are investments. I dont feel bad about them because I could sell any of them for much more than I paid. But the switch to Win 7 killed a number of plugins. And the TC debacle killed a number of plug ins from further support (not that TC was that great to begin with...) FWIW - if you ever happen to be in a Hard Rock Cafe, look at the drink menu. It has my amps and drums and mics as backgrounds for the drinks - all over the world. That is my claim to fame - the HRC drink menu amp guy. Now if I could just get some talent.
