That does help a lot, but the buttons and options and things are very hard to read.  especially for us old folks.

Thanks RobertB for that gem of advice. Another reason I love the forums so much. I found the red a bit too much too but after adjusting those tiny little controls it looks way better. Thanks again, much appreciated.

I wish there was a way to scroll through the library (within SampleTank) with the mouse wheel. With a large library, it's an inconvenience to click on the up/down arrows. Have any of you got the wheel to work?

Nope. The wheel is unsupported. This has been a long standing complaint.

You can use Asseca's wrapper, which gives you much greater control (including, I believe, mousewheel support).

http://asseca.com/wiki/MGUI/SampleTank25GUI

It gets rave reviews at KVR.  Asseca is well-known there (skin design, programs, etc.)

Here are the features:
Features / Characteristics access the SampleTank Instrument Browser, Combi Preset-Loader and FX-selector using key-strokes. all SampleTank's rotary control can be controlled using a BCR2000's "relative mode 3" CC#97 thru CC#104 set to channel 15. mouse-wheel control in any host . because of the mouse emulation technique used, it is not possible to use mouse-drag for the E1 to E8 spinners,
however MouseWheel, [num +], [num -], [Home], [End] keys still work . (Shift+MouseWheel allows fine adjustment of values)

Larry, the biggest issue most of us had with the GUI was the default red background. Thanks to Bitflipper, we discovered you could change the color. There are three tiny knobs on the right edge.
I changed mine to a light blue background, with high saturation for contrast. It's much easier to work with now.

For me specific likes and dislikes of a GUI are hard to pin down. Some have a great feel, others not so much. For me and the SampleTank GUI - not so much. It feels like I need to hit a button to increase the size of everything or that it somehow doesn't fit on my screen and should be enlarged somehow. Buttons are tiny and the text can be read but it takes some effort. And of course the sounds are important but for me the GUI can make or break any plugin I choose. If it feels good I'll just spend more time there - if not - well again not so much. Will blue be better? I'll check.

Anyway all of this is fairly moot as SampleTank 3 is in the works and I've been advised on my IK forum post that the issue of the size of the GUI is a well know issue and will addressed in ST3 despite it being the first time it's been brought up here.

Humbly Yours

Larry

    Thanks Smokey....
I installed it where my SampleTank2.5 .dll file is, but don't quite know how to apply it in X1. I can either open the mGUI or the ST2.5 synth. If I open asseca's mGUI, ST doesn't show up inside the mGUI. I'm sure it's something I've missed....

Yeah I've had my color set to a lighter blue for awhile and I love it. I did check out that Asseca mGui but it didn't work on my system either. Oh well SampleTank 3 will be awesome... ;)

I've got a Vista 32-bit system and it works in Sonar 8.5.3.  The first time I ran it I got a crash....thereafter, every time I ran it, it worked fine.  It's a nice setup....wish I could help you to get it working.  You can essentially use the mouse/mousewheel to select and edit the paramters.

Is SampleTank 3 gonna be available as a native x64 version?

That will make it attractive to us SONAR X64 users.

Very very true. Also helps people save money since usually group buy + upgrade is cheaper than the product by itself. ;)
