I think I've discovered a new bug. Let's see if we can duplicate this problem.

Using any audio clip, do the following:
1. Select the audio clip, right-click on the audio clip and select Process Effect/Audio Effect.
2. Select Channel Tools and choose any preset.
3. Sonar crashes.

Bub, you wanna try this please?

i used to do this in pro audio 9 all the time..when i wanted to boost the lead and didnt want to use automation..i just tried this on my computer and your correct.ive tried doing this exactly how you described and it crashes on me to.

Cool,  thanks chuckewalk, I think we have a new bug here,  so I'm off to report it to Cakewalk.

The number of posts in this (and similar) threads is testament again I'm afraid to the travails many of us are suffering.

Well, to be fair he was given the right answer in the first few posts, he just ignored it until someone told him to keybind a shortcut to it.

Oddly, no one mentioned Offset Mode (is there even still an Offset Mode?)

Personally I would avoid doing destructive volume changes to audio data but hey, different strokes.

Yes, press O to toggle Offset mode.

Cool,  thanks chuckewalk, I think we have a new bug here,  so I'm off to report it to Cakewalk.

I was just able to confirm this as well on my setup. Placing the Channel Tools in the bin works fine, but when trying to apply it in a destructive manner it certainly is crashing. (FYI: I just tried Sonar 8.5 and it does it there as well. Only during destructive editing)

I'll post a bug report as well.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

thats a great point..but when you clone enough tracks and your running low on cpu it does come in handy..but i agree..i never destructively edit audio tracks..just clones

Just until Friday, as you quoted in your thread about this. I don't understand why you seem to want this to sound so dramatic and final, when it'll be up & running again in a few days!

We used to be able to apply a level increase/decrease to an audio clip - with the Process-Audio option.
How can you quickly increase/decrease the level of an audio clip by +3 or -3 dB (or any other value) in X1, without resorting to an external audio editor?

Thanks

I also want to add my dismay to the chorus of people complaining about the new envelope handling - it is SO cumbersome. I want "add node" etc to come back!

We should still be able to but it's broken (on my install anyway).
It should be: Highlight the clip.  On the main top menu choose Process/Apply Effect/Gain.  Popup appears as per Sonar 8.5 and before.  Choose your gain adjustment from the drop down.  Click ok.  That should be it, but on my system the change is made to the left channel only on a stereo track - the right waveform is zapped and reduced to zero!  Let me know if this is the same for you so I can report it as a bug.

Your process works on my setup, maybe your clip is flaky in some way?
